Plain Jane
« on: January 06, 2007, 12:37:39 am »
My 2000 Chrysler Neon,91,000 km's, Salsa Red, 5-speed MT, air, alloys, 6-speaker stereo with 4-cd changer, that's about it. Not nearly as fancy as most of the cars I've seen here, but she's all mine. Hasn't given me ANY trouble whatsoever in the seven years I've had her. (Purchased new in October '99) No squeaks or rattles, even in cold weather, always starts and runs like new. She handles great with new 55-series rubber and gets amazing gas mileage - I've gotten 50 + MPG on the highway and usually get around 30 in town.

:) Thanks all, I do try to keep her in good shape. I was thinking about trading in the Neon for it's replacement, but the new Caliber's clunky SUV styling puts me off. Having had such a good experience with Neons - this one's my second - I would like to have gone with another Chrysler product, but I don't like the faux chopped-and-channeled look they're giving their vehicles these days. Sitting in the 300C or Magnum, for example, is like being in an old-style bathtub - the window sills are almost level with your shoulders, and outward visibilty is awful because of the short windows. To a somewhat lesser extent, this is also true of the Caliber, and I really dislike the el-cheapo interior. Yes, I know it's an el-cheapo car, at least in it's base form , but the imports do this better.

Anyway, it looks like I'll be holding on to the old girl for a while longer. When I finally get around to replacing her, it'll probably be with a Mazda3 Sport or a Mazda5.

Cheers! :drive:

Well one problem you won't have when it comes time to get a new car will be selling your old one. The care you have taken will come back and add value.
