Anyone caught the news on the exemption of 2002+ cars from Air Care? Does it mean what I think it is? Stage MCMVII for Saabaru with reckless abandonement!

You can check when your car needs an emission test. New cars don't need testing for 5 years.

There is no Air Care for most of BC, just the major urban areas. If I recall properly, the initial exemption was for 2 years (although it may have been 3).

Yep, no worries here in the Heartland.  I think that anyone with a car in the south coast should have to do aircare twice a year, regardless of vehicle age.  We do not need anymore of your pollution here in the interior

I think testing should focus on vehicles five years and older. There is a high probability that the newer cars are not the culprits in non functioning emission controls. Not sure what the regulations are in Southern Ontario but there is no e-testing up here in the north

The environment is the current hot-button political issue. Though Drive Clean makes a negligible contribution to improving air quality and wastes hundreds of millions of consumer dollars annually there is little chance the government will do more than tinker with it.
