That's neat Air. That's a big screen alright.
I feel my GPS is so useful, I would have paid twice its price for it. |

Yes it does tie in to the music system of the car as it has the MP3 player built right into it. This is the same one I have owned for 4-5 months now and I really do enjoy having it as the size is just great as well as its accuracy and dependability of it. I am sure your wife will really get a lot of use from it AB as its the nicest one in the marketplace right now in my view. It also has a 40Meg memory in it just for the music let alone other maps of North America that are available for it. |

Mine has a FM transmitter. When you're listening to music or blaring the tunes, will it lower the volume and then read out the directions to you via the car speakers? |

I don't know about lowering the car volume, but it does have an audio out line to go into an auxilary in. It may also have an FM transmitter... it's been a while since I had to deal with these! I imagine if you're listening to music from the device it will lower the volume, but perhaps Air can test and confirm? |

It does have a audio out cable, car and truck has no audio in No FM transmitter that I have seen, I still have no figure out how to load music on the thing! I probably need to load music on my laptop first I usually listern to http://www.fox951.com/main.html in the truck & car and when I am working in the office wife has have an Ipod that she uses with an FM transmittter |

Mine has a FM transmitter. When you're listening to music or blaring the tunes, will it lower the volume and then read out the directions to you via the car speakers? No, if you are listening to the radio or CD, it will not coordinate (i.e. mute music when instructions come on). I think that if you are playing the MP3 songs on the GPS, it will coordinate. |

As I have had mine for 4-5months now I have Not noticed that occurening as of yet myself with this model. Maybe its possible as it does announce your turns a No. of times starting at around 900 feet from the intersection you will be told to turn at. 600,300 and then this is your turn type of thing. I used out of town last summer doing carshows away out of London. Certainly is convient as it also gives a true reading of my speed on the dash. |

If you leave it in the car over night and it is below -5C, it will take awhile before it will work It will indicate that it is too cold to work |

A friend of mine has the new Pathy with it built in and it sure does have the 'neat' factor. She is lost, really, without it.
As for the add in units I would be leery of leaving them out in plain sight. They stand out so much that they scream 'take me, take me'. I imagine that they come with a case for storage and that they can easily be switched from one car to another? |

Yes, some are small enough to be placed in your purse or shirt pocket. See pic below. Yes, they're easily transferred from one car to the other. |

These have a good sized suction cup on a adjustable stick which you can almost mount anywhere on the dash you like. There was about 4-5 different cords that come in the box with it to download songs and other stuff,Maps with as well. It can even show alternative routes if you need them very quickly in the menu also. I really do enjoy mine everyday. |

I really want a GPS Nav system for my fusion. I'm not really the biggest fan of weird attachments on the dash or on the windshield. It would be nice if in dash ones were not insanly overpriced... Pioneer makes some nice ones that I like but for 1500-2500... so my gps is my 20.00 map book |

This particular model I bought from Crappy Tire about 5-6 months ago with all the cables in the kit and everything else that goes with it for $399.99 plus Tax's. On Sale as it was supposively $100.00 off at the time of purchase. They have done this several times since on this model. |
