Stability control is not available on the Legacy GT.  So you should correct that in your article where you say it's standard.  MY08 should rectified that we were told but in the meantime, that car although wonderful, needs more value put inside like stability control, HID option, radio controls on steering wheel etc...for the $43,390 asked by Subaru Canada. That's near an Infinity G35 price.

That price btw is way too much when you can get the same vehicle in the US and bring it here for around 34000-35000$ CDN. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48692

When the Canadian dollar was low the price made sense but not anymore.

The GT starting price in US is $28,295. In Canada it is $40,295 With the exchange rate, it costs around $32,760 in Canadian to buy a GT in the US. That really make no sense, $8000 more for the same car!!!  I checked another example, the Mazdaspeed6. In US, the starting price is $28,590. In Canada it is $35,995. With the exchange rate, it is $33,000 Canadian. $3000 more in Canada.  The Toyota FJ cruiser is $21,910 in US. In Canada it is $29,990. With the exchange rate, it is around $25,350. $4600 more in Canada.

So while most cars are now more expensive because of the strong Canadian dollar, some manufacturers have started to price their products at least more realistically with the new reality of our exchange rate.  Subaru of Canada price differences are a lot more than a lot of manufacturers and they say charge what the market will accept.  That says "we'll charge as much as we can because we can and you guys in Canada still buy the car".  Well I won't be in that group.

The Legacy GT is also made in the US and US bought Subarus are covered when brought into Canada.  So unless Subaru of Canada reduces its pricing, next fall when I change my car, if I get a Legacy GT it's going to be bought in the US.

Sorry for the rant but as much as I love that car (hey it's on my next car shopping list) Subaru of Canada needs to understand that the Legacy GT is not worth what they are asking for it.  Especially when you can get a new G35X for $45 000 versus the $43,390 asked for the Legacy GT.

Anyway, I've already said that I love this car, the sedan looks great in black but unfortunately I see the Legacy as more of a classier vehicle than the big "SUBARU" sticker on the windshield suggests. It may work on the Impreza (I personally still don't like it on the Impreza), but I definately don't like it on the Legacy. MSRP is steap, but it's one hell of a car.

They should also slap on that STi wing from the WRX onto all their cars too.  Add some neon if they feel particularly stylish.....

Good car but overpriced in Canada. Either add more content or lower the price. I can get an OTD Legacy GT for US$26k.

I have to definitely question the sticker, but Subaru has one of the best marketing departments in the industry.  They really know how to niche market better than anyone else.  It seems that they have some of the best information about just who is buying their vehicles.
