It was in Belleville

Would I get a Aura, probably not
We have the 323CIC to play around in
The Vue looked nice in leather, fully loaded was $34gs, with Honda V6

The Outlooks should be trickling into dealerships within 2 weeks.

With the new VUE (heck, even with the current one), and the Astra it'll be a pretty nice dealership to shop.

Wow , priced BETTER than the accord or Camry , better looking , terrific euro design, good job GM.

How is it priced any better than the Accord or the Camry?  Huh  Can you substantiate that (for a change)?

The  Aura XR and the Camry SE V6 are essentially the same cost depending on how much of a discount ppl get on the Camry.  Another $500 for the XLE with smart key, plasma cluster, blue tooth. The difference in wholesale between the two will be so wide a 747 will be able to fly thru it.

Unless GM is going to apply 0% to the XR or a great lease rate these are going to be rare cars.

I don't like the Aura's looks.  I keep thinking I'm looking at a Chrysler's Sebring, which I don't like either.

OK - I am a fan of the Aura, but trade an A6 for one?? Not on your life!

Wing - you mentioned in your Day 3 summary about driving characteristics of the Vectra (Aura's European variant). It's designed primarily as a fleet car for the most part. People who buy consider the likes of the Ford Mondeo and Toyota Avensis - both of which are quiet, good cruising vehicles but not terribly performance oriented. I agree with your thoughts on those stupid paddle-shifters - what are manufacturers thinking??? You don't make a family sedan F-1 like just by slapping on paddles behind the wheel - cheese loo-eeze!

My understanding is that this Saturn price advantage exists in the States, but not in Canada.  The Aura XR is thousands of US dollars less than a similarly-equipped Accord or Camry.

I beg to differ on your comment that the Mondeo is not terribly performance oriented. The Mondeo has very good credibility in Europe as far as hard to match dynamics in the family sedan segment. For that matter Ford of Europe is well known for producing drivers cars "so to speak".

It would be very interesting to read what changes GM made to the Vectra/Aura(beside visual) , to make it "suitable for North American tastes".
In Europe the Vectra has very good credibility as well for its Dynamics.

My uncle traded in a 740i on a Honda Element.  It's been known to happen but very rare.  With the recent BS about how a delivery driver mistakenly delivered these things to the Lexus dealership etc, it sounds like more of the same BS to hype it up.  It's a nice car, but be realistic.

I traded in my Maybach 62 for this Aura.   Roll Eyes

My first question would be did you make a poor financial move?

People trade cars for all sorts of reasons. Individually doesn't mean much, but if there's a trend...

Actually, I can see this happing a lot.  I was just on autotrader.  They have a number of 2003 A6's around $30k.  So I can see a guy in 2003 buying a 1999 A6 for around 30k.  He enjoys driving it for 4 years.  He realizes that an 8-year old Audi is too pricey to maintain then he likes.  After couple of test-drives in a new 2007 Altima and Aura, (or any other mid-sized priced sedan in this class) I can see it being very easy to move from a 8 year old premium German car.

Nav is at least a 2500.00 option , not to mention having to send away for dvds to upgrade. 1 year of onstar free and then 30 a month not to mention all the other benefits of onstar sounds like a deal.

I think Onstar is great and truly a unique offering the marketplace for sure, but I don't think you can compare it to NAV.

$24.95/month for regular on-star
$48.95/month for turn-by-turn

YIKES   That's more than I thought it was.

I didn't realize there are two different packages. When yo're approaching 50. a month that's steep.

Differ away - I am simplly commenting on my own driving experiences in all three, that's all. Performance can be somewhat subjective though, and while I would readily take a Vectra, Modeo over even Avensis over anything put out by Ford or GM here in North America - I would still drop any of them for a 3-series or A4 if I had the $$. Having said that - I read about a year ago in WhatCar that the Modeo was the #1 fleet vehicle in the UK because of it's benign driving characterics. Maybe true, maybe not.  Beer

How does car compare to the Camry and Accord which I believe would be the main competitors?
