What are you driving Wing? Doesn't look like a Lexus IS 350 anymore to me, although I've read a car carrier driver might mistaken it for one  ROFL

I would be completely mystified how this company could accomplish such a large leap in styling and build quality in such a short time frame.

Europeon GM's are lot nicer, The major improvement started over the last 6-8 years. The really boxy Vauxhall Astra 98-04 was the start of GM's turn around in improved plastics and fit and finish.

Wing. Is it true that its got a low roof line and its easy to bash yourself geting in and out. Rob Davidson was moaning about that. So I wonder if it was just him?

Gone are the plastic panels and with them, the horrible fit and finish.  Welcome to a new era of Saturn.

I consider the demise of plastic body panels a bad thing.  I don't notice the slightly wider than normal gaps between the doors and fenders on my S-series, but I do notice that my nearly 10 year old car is free of dents and rust.  When I first brought it home a little over a year ago my neighbor asked if it was new!  He looked a bit shocked when I told him it was a 1997.  It's also not much heavier than my 1986 Corrola (which definitely looks it's age), despite being considerably bigger.

With a CTS starting at $34,000( radio add) and Saturn Aura XR sedan at $35,000 which do you think is a better value.
CTS will be mt and not all the toys, but you get servicing for 4 years , 80,000 km
Aura XR loaded but no service
Is the Aura FWD?

Is the Aura FWD?

Yes, fwd, platform mate to Malibu, G6 and 9-3.

And yes, the current incentived pricing on the rwd CTS makes it mighty attractive, and it's available with a stick.

Having 3 kids, a sedan with a huge back seat like the Aura might do the job for me, but with no manual tranny option, it's off my "must-see" list.  If Nissan-Honda-Toyota-Mazda can make a business case with manual trannies in their midsizers, than why not GM ?

Typically people who want manuals are also looking for something sporty.  In the past GM hasn't offered anything that appealed to these people while Nissan, Honda and especially Mazda have.   GM hasn't really had anything sporty that appeals to people who are looking for a midsize car.  And this includes pontiac, which apparently made cars that were "built for drivers (who want an automatic)".  This may slowly change, but you can't fault GM for currently thinkinkg nobody wants a manual.

The Aura looks like a great car.   The interior looks great and the overall shape's easy on the eyes.  I haven't seen one on the roads yet so I can't comment on how they look in person.

Aura is a family car, the comparison to CTS is useless. Its priced with the V6 family sedans such as Camry/Accord/Altima.

How's that Umro?  The CTS is of similar size / passenger space, contains a V6 and is priced very similar.  Same with the Buicks.  Although I agree the competition is meant to be Camry/Accord/Altima GM continues to blur its product offerings.

Aura more expensive than a CTS?!  Either GM is completely overpricing Saturns cars in Canada, or they're giving Caddys away like concession prizes.

Here in the States, you can get an XE (with good standard equipment and a V6) for about the same (possibly less than) a similarly-equipped Accord or Camry four-cylinder, and even the XR is US$25,000--the CTS 2.8 (stripped, with leatherette) is 22% more expensive, and the CTS 3.6 (same engine, leather upholstery like the XR) is 34% more expensive.

Certainly not more expensive but because of the packaging a $35,000 XR is within $1000 of a 2.8 CTS which is well equipped at its base price here in Canada.

Aura XR price close to Cadillac CTS. Accord EX V6 MT priced close to Acura TSX MT. Camry XLE V6 AT priced close to Lexus IS250 MT. These are priced very close within $1000 to each other.

Good point Umro, Although I'd argue the Accord is larger than the TSX and the Camry larger than the IS250 Wink

Is it not fact that all the cars in the same segment as the new Aura can be equipped to comparable price as the CTS.
Such as loaded Fusion, Accord, Mazda6, and Camry,  not sure on the Sonata.

Thats true. The point I am trying to make is, regular family folks driving around with the wife and a child all the time, wouldn't 'want' a bit smaller, lot sportier car. The cliché is there, these kind of people are more perceptive of brands/vehicles as sirAquaman mentioned in another thread on people rejecting certain cars.

I would take a TSX over an Accord anyday, its smaller, but liveable. IS250 can't be had for daily family duties. CTS is RWD, turns away family people with the perception that RWD is very difficult to drive in winter (I thought that until I joined CTC).

Facts and perceptions. There is no denying that there is more value-addition to be had with TSX or CTS in this case.

The Accord is slightly wider than the TSX but not by too much.
