You may discuss our cover story of the day in this thread....
Test Drive:
2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid

2007 Toyota Camry HybridThe new gas-electric hybrid version of the 2007 Camry sedan piggybacks on the proven popularity of the conventional Camry while offering significantly better gas mileage and lower emissions, reports Editor, Greg Wilson.  Its acceleration, braking and fuel economy are better than the regular four-cylinder Camry, he says, but there are some driveability drawbacks related to its hybrid powertrain.

Now if only Toyota could "electrify" the styling of that poor Camry.. they might have something. The center stack console is almost old Buick.  Even the new body style seems old on the road already. Blandsville.  Non-looker.  Ya ya maybe better gas mileage, and you're helping to save the world feel gooders.. Do us a favour and get the Prius, or just drive your regular Camry less.

Camry prices, from http://www.canadiandriver.com/testdrives/07camry_le.htm
Base price LE   $25,800
Base price SE V6   $32,010
Base price Hybrid   $31,900

Seems that better comparision would have been to SE V6 model, as the price is almost identical and the jump in price from regular 4cyl to hybrid is almost 25%. Quite a difference.

The packaging is very interesting. You get a lot of features over Camry LE 4-cyl in the Camry Hybrid.

You cannot option out the base Camry to get similar equipment as the Hybrid. 8-Way power seats, power lumbar control, Dual-Zone Climate Control, Plasma Cluster environment, 8 speaker JBL 6-CD Changer with MP3/WMA capability. VDIM, VSC. Only SE V6 comes close to this, but lacks equipment to compare with the Hybrid version.

Apart from the Hybrid drivetrain, the Hybrid version packs a lot of equipment for its price AND a lot more power than the base Camry.
The best part it still retains 60/40 folding seats, gives you a good measure for regular family use, not just a Hybrid driving snob.

You'd fit right in the minivan, Shemp. Smart travellers pack according to what they drive.

Well, we've been travelling with our son since he was a year old(he's 2.5 now), at that in the 2002 Corolla. With a suitcase, that huge Graco stroller and a travel bag. If you have more than one child, then a sedan might not be as practical. I'm very reluctant to give up driving a Sedan as long as I can.  Smiley

I quite like it. I rather plunk my money on this Camry hybrid oppose to a Civic hybrid or Prius.

The only negative is it's boring to drive, but it's a Camry, so whatever Cool

I love the TCH!  Maybe one day I'll be a proud owner of one of these fantastic buys.

Any car can be made fun to drive.

And given that it's a Hybrid, I'd be having fun trying to minimize the fuel consumption whilst driving.  Different people, different stroke.  Wink

Its a second faster than the regular 4-cyl Camry, a second more of exitement?  Grin Equipment is nice in this car and the only one with LED tail lights.
