You can't expect one salesmen to know every department... but you have John working "cars", and Mike working "power equipment", and Emily working "Marine". Pretty basic organizational structure...

A very logical solution but that would indicate that the salesmen (-women) have your best interests in mind.  Reality is that they will probably try to sell anything to anybody (I'm sure some will try to give you an Accord when you want a Civic) to have the commission or whatever cash bonus they get for making a sale.  They would have to be on a guaranteed remuneration system kinda thing.  Tongue

I dunno about this idea - half or more of today's car/truck salesppl don't know their product - how will they know the info on bikes, mowers, ATVs, generators, etc?? I don't get it?  Huh Huh

You don't need to get it. The local dirtbike dealers have no product knowledge either.

I Agree

I think we're a bit hyper-aware of the shortcomings of auto salespeople on this board and we tend to forget that most salespeople in most industries don't really know what they're selling.  In my experience, lack of product knowledge by salespeople is almost constant whether I'm buying cars, motorcycles, bicycles, electronics, tools, etc.  I haven't bought a house yet, but when I do I'm sure that I'll have to do enough research that I'll probably know more about what makes for a  good house than the realtors I'll have to deal with.

The Shop in Sudbury was “told” by Honda Canada that he has to separate his Honda products from the Polaris Snowmobiles and Harley Davidson Bikes into a different building. He “told” them where to go and sold the franchise.
