Mrs. Monty's Focus ZX5 SES
« on: November 24, 2006, 12:14:24 am »
Took these pictures last weekend, after a visit to the car wash for waxing and engine cleaning, and some detailing in the driveway.

(Last weekend, November 18, PLUS 6 degrees in Winnipeg - how could you not do some detailing in the driveway!)

The tires are not OEM, they're Blizzak WS-50's mounted on stock Ford Focus sport wheels to save the alloy wheels from the winter road salt.

5 speed manual, leather upholstery, moonroof, "Audiophile" stereo system (wheel mounted controls, 6 CD changer, MP3 capability, upgrade speakers and a sub-woofer and RDS) It was a whole lot of car, and a whole lot of fun, for the money.
I wonder if George W. Bush was confused by "Weapons of MATH Destruction"?

What year is the car? As much as people malign the Focus, I liked the style of this model when it came out and I still think it's kind of cutesy.  :D

No. I haven't bought brand-new since our '92 Dodge Spirit. I just don't want to take the hit on depreciation anymore. Brand new on the lot for an '06 was almost $24,000 MSRP, without some of the options we got on ours. I paid $15,350 with 20,500 km's for an '05. I was pretty happy to find it, in the exact colour and specs that Mrs. Monty wanted.

Wow, that's a great deal.

I think the refresh that ford did on the focus was great.  It gave the car a more upscale look.

Very nice. I always liked the sportier members of the Focus family. Much nicer than the tin can Escort I have now.

Great price...  factor in taxes on the brand new purchase price and you probably saved $10 000 by buying a year later.   :o  Brand new is nice, but that kind of depreciation is mad!

Car looks great...  I didn't know the Focus was offering with leather, either.  I remember the one I drove seemed a little underpowered (iirc, an 04 ZX5), but I seem to be the only one with that problem.  Maybe it was because my driving instructor was in the car with me!

Great car...  :)

Looks nice! Thanks for posting and sharing.

And I agree, what a killer deal you got for such a loaded vehicle (and depreciation for the former owner!  :o)

Have a detailing appointment tomorrow and weather is supposed to be good!  :D

Nice car.  I thought cars in Winterpeg came with an AC power cord sticking out of the grille.  :)
