Hello all:  At the risk of going down in flames, I was at the dealership today (couldn't wish for better service than I've received), and while they did their 'thing', I went onto the car lot to see what's new.

The little Wave has a redesign, dash, upholstery, instrument detailing, as well as side air bags, and the newly announced 5 year warranty.  Both sedan and hatch will have the upgrades, starting at $13,900.

The annoying gated shifter on on the automatic, is gone and replaced with a nice looking brushed silver, straight sifter.  I'd like that.

After just over a year in this car, I have to say that I am very comfortably seated, with great visability.  It's fun to drive and is a peppy little car.  I appreciate that it will seat 5, (with belts), and I also like the split rear seats, which also fold up, and hook behind the front seats, so trunk is quite large. My main complaint is cornering, which is a poor show when compared to my road-hugging ancient Rabbit. However, this is the first automatic I've ever owned.  Much prefer the gear shift.

Can't beat it at the price, with the warrnaty.  Somebody was complaining about the lack of leg-room in the Fit; they likely wouldn't consider the Wave/Aveo, which might be a better 'fit' :rofl2: but for the price it's great transportation.  Sometimes I feel that GM is done a great disservice on this forum.

Glad you are happy with your car.  :)

I don't know this car so I don't have an opinion, but a friend of mine is a car nut (he has 5 cars in his 3-garage, 6 car driveway.) Has a BMW Z4, is looking to get a Porsche 911 and...... a Wave is his winter car. He likes it and calls it "easy to drive in the City."

Very good review!

I think GM has deserved the negativity that has been the main focus of their products.  However, their new product lineup is a great shift away from the previous garbage offerings they had in recent past.  It takes time for humans to trust again, and most saavy buyers won't flock to GM right away, but instead prefer to sit back and see what's going on at GM and how their products do over a period of 3 to 4 years before taking that plunge.

I know I'm not going to shift my views overnight...on anything.  Prove to me that what you are offering is going to ensure I'm happy with it.

Were you at Dave Wheaton?  I found the service there excellent, as well...  and some of GM's new models do seem really decent.  :)

Hi, Yes, Dave Wheaton.  They have just bought Cornell Chev apparently, just down the road from them.

Did they?  That's really interesting.  IIRC they own Saturn-Saab, too...  I've never been to that Chev lot, so I don't know how the service is now, but like I say, Dave Wheaton Pontiac was great.

As other Korean companies (SAmsung, LG, Hyundai and KIA Motors) have improved their quality and are now able to compete among the world's best, I don't see why Daewoo, with the financial backing of GM, won't be able to join those ranks as well...

New models like the Chevy Captiva and re-designed Epica are getting good press in Europe.  My brother in law is still very happy with his Optra wagon.

Hi, yes, they do own Saturn-Saab as well, but I have the feeling they don't like to admit that.  Cornell is a huge business, I've never been there, but it's an interesting acquisition.

GM has pulled up their quality in the last few years considerably but it seems the folks who don't have one have the worst stories about them. They know someone else but never themselves it seems to jump all over the product quality. Here's a current owner telling you her expereience which means a lot more to me then some of the other folks who do nothing but run them down. Glad you are enjoying your car and the good service you are receiving from your dealer as well. Thats what this Company is trying to do on a full time basis. No-body builds a Perfect Car yet but they are trying.  :)

Like you and your Honda experience?  ;)  ;D

Where is this negativity?  Where is the running down of another poster's comments?   ::)  I think everybody has stated that GM has increased their vehicle quality over the years and the cars in the showroom now are nothing like the previous cars.  The testament from lass proves that their cars are a lot better than before.

A little hypocritical, I think, Barrie:

"I also agree with replacing this car from the Maunufacturer that should have been looked at a while ago. The problem I have is believing your story on National Computor here that anyone would have these many problems and the Dealer would let them go so cheaply, the dealer gets many of their profits from the warranty dollars that GM supplies.  We all feel your pain but prove to me that you are Bs's here on the problems as I spent a lifetime career learning the oposisite. Did something else happen to this car to continue to have seal problems on this car or did this vehicle have a incident of repair since built new?"

::) ::) ::)  I guess it's just what you WANT to hear that makes an impression.
