I've seen NA's with 200k, 300k on them....and they look as good as mine does with 125k on the clock.  Clean as the day it was on the showroom floor.

The NB I drove failed to thrill me, but it wasn't exactly a test drive that would really do justice to the Miata.  I'm dying to get my hands on one for a real test drive sometime...  preferably a forced induction NA.  :D

I actually love my TSX more now that I've driven in 2000 km than during the test drive, because it's so fun to drive (even though it's not a powerful car). I find the Miata really interesting because I've heard they're so fun to drive, and am thinking of perhaps picking a used one up in a couple of years and using that to learn and enjoy manual driving and perfecting that skill.... A quick peak at autotrader reveals what I suspected though........ Well-maintained Miatas depreciate very slowly......

Maintaince costs though, they shouldn't be too much because of their reliability?

I know. It such a rare sight to see a Miata owner not taking care of his car. But he drives it year around and eventually the body will fall apart if you don't spend money on it.

I could take a picture and have all Miata lovers do just like I do:  :'(...

Out of all the 3 generations of the Miata (NA, NB and NC), the NA is my favourite as it is the Miata in it's purest form. My particular example has a curb weight of only 2080 lbs! I have absolutely no luxury options in my car at all and that's exactly the way I like it. Just a basic, well-balanced, light-weight front-engined, rear-wheel-drive roadster.

Can you believe 500lbs* separates the NA and the NB?  Considering the chassis is essentially the same, they must have really nickel and dimed the weight up.  A brace here, a glass window there, 16" wheels all the way around, and suddenly it weighs almost as much as a Civic.

*EDIT: actually the difference is more like 200-300 depending on trim.

The Elise is about 1975lbs.  You're almost there!

I saw an NA one yesterday that was not taken care of either. (paint falling off and scratched everywhere, mags peeling, etc.). Made my heart sink too.  :'(
