As much as Canada is always "lumped" in with the U.S., it's interesting to see the difference between the two countries with regards to the auto sector and how things seem to be playing out.

Santa Fe made up just a very tiny portion of the gain over 09, 4%, big gains were Sonata and Tucson.

In all honesty Hyundai and others are kicking Toyota's but right now based on better and more enjoyable products.

Hyundai is married to low finance rates.  Without low rates they can't move them.  Most distributors are in the same position.

We broke Nissan sales records in our region in both of our newly acquired stores.  Wonder if 0%/60 on FWD Rogue, Altima, Sentra, Versa had anything to do with it. 

 Hyundai-Kia is recalling more than 35,000 cars with fire-prone electrical wiring systems, said the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating possible steering mechanism problems on some 2011 Hyundai Sonatas 

 

Well 0/60 for Toyota seems to be doing zilch in my area, cars are parked in the grass, the lot is full.  Want a Tundra? 6 available.

mechanical reliability  ya something they had some years ago, today anything out there is as good or better.  Lemon-aid has a Camry as average and the Corolla below average.

I think any car is safe if you can figure out how to put your foot on the brake instead of the accelerator.

Of course it helps Arctic.  My mom-in-law bought a Tucson at the end of July, 60 months @ 2.9, she would have considered an Equinox, same money but 5.9%.

But if a car is bad, you can't give them away.  Ask a dodge dealer about Calibers and Avengers.

Remember the Audi fiasco...where owners were actually stepping on the gas pedal when they meant to step on the brake pedal...but the cars were taking off on them.

We all know that the most powerful engine on a car are its brakes.

Sales of its lineup of Subaru symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive vehicles reached 2,328 units, up 20.0 percent over the previous record set just last year.

This is also interesting, since we talk of rates driving sales.

Subaru finances through Toyota Credit, and they max at 60 months, with 0% unavailable on ANY model.
