Unlike some months where things are only up or down marginally (relatively flat), some brands were way up and others way down.

Manufacturer   November 2006   November 2005   Per cent change

Nissan/Infiniti         5,583                   4,473           - 5.9

I see a typo here.

More vehicles were sold in Nov '06 than in Nov of '05, yet the percentage change is negative.

So can you line me up? Should be legal to register and drive. I would love to see the look on the Toyota service advisor's face when I pull up in a new Landcruiser. :)

Canada sales up despite GM dip

Kim Scherer  |   |  Automotive News / December 11, 2006 - 1:00 am

Sales of light vehicles in Canada rose 2.7 percent in November, even though General Motors' sales plunged 13.6 percent from the year-ago period.

GM remained the volume seller, but its sales fell to 31,027 units for the month. November sales of GM cars were down 18.3 percent, while its light trucks dropped 9.0 percent.

For the first 11 months, GM's car and light-truck sales were running almost neck and neck, with cars holding a 130-unit edge.

The November sales picture was brighter for Ford Motor Co. and the Chrysler group. Ford's sales were up 11.3 percent to 18,262 vehicles, while Chrysler's rose 8.4 percent to 17,200 units.

Among import brands, Suzuki had a strong month with a 54.4 percent sales boost from the previous November, to 1,013 units. Nissan's sales rose 24.8 percent to 5,583.

But powerhouse Toyota's sales dropped 2.2 percent for the month, to 13,694.

Through November, sales in Canada were 1.6 percent ahead of January-November 2005.

The Honda Civic held strong as Canada's top-selling vehicle for November. Ford's F series continued to be the top-selling light truck.

See attachment for Nov '06 nameplate sales...

Doesn't look like a particularly strong December for some automakers, but only seeing some of the reporting thus far.

Had a second look when noting Kia's car sales. Their top seller in December was the Amanti   More than a little strange, but looks like their car models as a whole are not doing so hot.

Civic sales are out front by such a large margin it's laughable. No denying that redesign was a huge success.

Setting an annual sales record was Honda Civic with total calendar-year sales of 70,028 units, up 2% over 2005 sales, making it Canada's top-selling car for a ninth consecutive
year.
