What's going on with the the SantaFe sales? They are challenging the Escape big time. Are they giving them away or something?
Tucson's sales are lower than I would expect.

not really $2,000 adjustment which just covers a bit more than the destination and pdi charges, so not excessive.  They probably went in for Tucson and came out with a Santa Fe, unless those Tucson buyers bought a new Sportage instead  :)

Kia really is on a roll with the Soul, Forte, Sorento and Sportage... Magentis is coming soon, and if it's packaged anything close to the Sonata, it should also be a good seller for them. I haven't heard much in terms of replacements for the Rio, Rondo and Sedona... they shouldn't forget to work on those as they'll quickly be left behind and trail their competitors pretty soon!

Kia does not mention Sportage so I guess the numbers are not very good again. It seems like more buyers went to CRV this month (bigger incentives?).

Was the new Sportage even on the market for all of September?

Pretty sure it was but Conwelpic is the Kia resident expert. Maybe he can shed some light here. I'm yet to see one on the road and I move quite a bit in the GTA everyday.

It looks like everyone is buying CUVs these days - CRV, SantaFe, Journey, RAV4, Rogue...., but not much Tucson and Sportage. My bet was that these would be a huge sales success, but maybe it's too early.

Yes

not really $2,000 adjustment which just covers a bit more than the destination and pdi charges, so not excessive.  They probably went in for Tucson and came out with a Santa Fe, unless those Tucson buyers bought a new Sportage instead  :)

Hell it's like they are giving them away indeed. $20K for a Santa Fe!? :o It's like buying a similarly equipped compact. No wonder they are beaking all the records.

Interesting to me the Chrysler outsold Honda/Acura, Toyota, Nissan/Infinitu, Hyundai, Kia, etc.

so I'm the Kia resident expert am I  ;D

The new Sportage started arriving at dealerships very late in July but at that point just the odd ones as according to my local dealer he found a 4-6 week gap between his first one and the next delivery, even though he had quite a few on order.  I contacted an inside source at Kia and got back this answer "We had a good month with Spoortage and are ramping up volume with availability"  but they didn't tell me how many.
But based on contacts with my local dealer it appears to be a supply problem.  If it was built in the US like the Sorento you would get a faster supply.  With a new model you have to build up enough supply into the system and then you are not sure how fast it will take off.  I wouldn't be suprised that you will encounter the same situation with the upcoming new Optima.

When you bring in a brand new model you seem to get these "dead spots" as they are trying to clear out the old one as much as possible before the new ones arrive (gets fazed out earlier) .  A continuing model doesn't encounter this, so in a sense Kia is really penalizing themselves with introducing so many new models at such a rapid pace.  This could also happen next year with the whole new Rio.  Dealers have been without a model to fill the Magentis for a long time as production on that stopped a long time ago.

I've only seeen one new Sportage on the road, but not in my area, most common Kia product I see is Rondo's, very rarely see any Forte's or Sorento's which are big sellers - but not where I normally drive.
