Was just noticing the ranking for "Team Score" before it's massaged factoring price in for Overall Score.
Think it's interesting because it's what the journalists felt were the best new cars regardless of price in their segments.

Most of the results for the top 3 are still the same except for a few:
- Saturn Aura gets bumped from 3rd, replaced by Maxima
- MS3 and GTI swap places (it was tight either way as it stood)
- Audi RS4 bumps BMW 330i Coupé to second, Audi S8 bumps BMW M-Coupé to 4th
- Audi Q7 4.2L swaps spots with the Acura MDX Elite for 2nd and 3rd respectively
- Ditto for Escalade EXT and Avalanche

Obviously price is a huge factor (in the case of the Audis and Escalade, they're stiffly priced), but in some cases the vehicles weren't comparably equipped (small SUVs - the Santa Fe was nipping on the new CR-V) so IMO it's valuable to have a look at both.

I think you have a typo in the article stating:

The Lincoln MKZ is the most expensive car in this small group and is

When in fact it is significantly the least expensive.  Might want to fix that.

When in fact it is significantly the most expensive, as I wrote in the article, going by the as-tested prices. In terms of base price, you're right - the Lincoln in the cheapest, but that's irrelevant here, as we weren't dealing exclusively with base models.
Buy this car to drive to work; Drive to work to pay for this car.

Who pays for the AJAC's convention "so to speak". Or do all the journalists and rag writers donate their time for award events?

Heh... thanks, ovr.  ;)

AJAC members pay annual dues, some of which I imagine goes toward Testfest/COTY.

The manufacturers pay a set amount (don't recall what it is) for every car they enter, and there are corporate sponsors too. Probably some other sources of funding, but I'm not involved with the planning of it; I only have a superficial knowledge of what happens behind the scenes.
