 MISSISSAUGA, ON, Nov. 1 /CNW/ - Nissan Canada Inc. (NCI) released its
sales figures for October, 2006 today. The total sales figure for both Nissan
and Infiniti brands was 6,260 units, an increase of 1,577 units (33.7%) over
October 2005. The Nissan brand accounted for 5,715 units, an increase of 1,650
units (40.6%) year-over-year. This was the Nissan brand's best month since
October, 2001.
    Sales were led by Versa Hatchback which had a strong month with 1,260
units in only its fourth month on the market. The Nissan Pathfinder sold 312
units, while Murano sold 592 units, an increase of 268% over October 2005.

        of 40.7%.
    -   QX56 had its best month of 2006 selling 38 units.

X-trail is still selling well even after all the hype surrounding its intro has died down. Guess it was a smart move on Nissan Canada's part to bring it over here.

Too bad Nissan has the highest interest rates compared to it's Japanese competitors. The wife and I are looking for a second vehicle somewhere along the lines of a Versa, Yaris or Fit. Honda and Toyota have rates 3% lower than Nissan right now. My past two vehicles and current X-Trail have been Nissans. I was very disappointed that the dealer wouldn't even budge on the price to compensate for the 3% difference in financing. Looks like i may be switching brands. This will definately influence future dealings with Nissan for my vehicle purchases.

How much room does the deal have to play with
Versa is his best mover at the moment if you can wait a couple of months it should come down

Nissan/Infiniti had a vehicle display at the local big mall over the weekend. First Versa I have seen in the flesh, and I thought it looked good for a small car, and has (I think?) more room than the Yaris and Fit. Was only about $18K also.

Saw the new G35X there as well, and was very impressed with it. Cars were locked so couldn't sit in them .

There are plenty of reasons to exclude a given dealer or manufacturer from your future car plans.  Not selling you a hot-selling model for the price you want to pay is not one of them.

FXs were heavily discounted (like they have never been before) so it is no surprise Infiniti finally moved what they had in stock. However, it is not a good sign for the 2007 FX sales. Infiniti would have already cut production of the FX in reaction to the slowing sales.

There are plenty of reasons to exclude a given dealer or manufacturer from your future car plans.  Not selling you a hot-selling model for the price you want to pay is not one of them.

The Versa "may" be hot selling at the moment, but God help Nissan if it suffers from initial quality problems that has suffered other models which were built in the US and Mexico. Also, treating repeat customers as if they are doing us a favour by selling us their "hot" new model isn't gonna cut it. Honda and Toyota have a better track record for initial quality and resale. Don't get me wrong, I like our X-Trail, but the primary reason we bought it was due to it being built in Japan and from reading the excellent reviews it has rcv'd in overseas markets.

P.S. Maybe i'm blind, but I don't recall seeing loads of Versa's driving around my neck of the woods here in Ottawa.
