Miss Jetta is getting her snows this week.

For you DIYers... I'm confused.  Don't tires need to be balanced after an install?  How do you do that yourselves?

Are you doing it yourself?   If the tires are already mounted on their rims and balanced, then no.  If you are using the same rims but switching the tires on them, then they'll need to be rebalanced.

No, not doing it myself, for the above reasons.  And, I have neither the necessary tools nor the proper space to do it.

So, now that it hasn't snowed in the month and a half since I put my winter tires on, I'm now in the market for winter tires. I've heard of Blizzaks, Nokians and Ice-X. Any other suggestions??

240 and Fit both have em on. I'm still enjoying the summer tires on the CL though. Been lovely weather down here, but I know I'm gonna get caught, so I think I'll put em on later in the week.

Finally broke down and put my snows on this past Sunday.  I kept seeing the snow-storm reports for out west and figured it was only a matter of days before it hit us.

So, after putting mine on, I promptly celebrated by driving around with the top down it was so warm.   >:(

Yesterday:  16 degrees.
Tomorrow and Thursday 16-18 degrees.   >:( >:( >:(  Not that I'm complaining about the warm weather... I just wish I had hung on for another week.  If I can keep the summer's on for all of April through all of November then I'd be a happy camper (only 4 months of looking at those funny little snow-boots).

I have the winters on the Taurus, but not the 500. I still haven't bought them for the 500 but I'm considering the X-Ice in the hope they're quieter than the Blizzaks. When I went to buy them everywhere I asked was sold out. Maybe this week they'll have more in.

Safi gotta stop posting those pics.   My little guy is asking questions...

The snows are on my Honda now.   I went for the $60 tire changeover special at Goodyear.   The girl behind the counter had a magnificent set of headlights.

Well, I drove home with the new Nordics, and... the driving feels different.  Not too much noise, mind you, but cornering felt different from my Dunlop Sport A2s.  Wobbly would be the best way to describe it.  From what I've read, this is normal, because snow tires don't behave the same way on pavement as all-seasons do.  Can anyone enlighten me as to why, from a technical standpoint?  Does the speed-rating difference contribute to this as well?  I've never purchased snow tires before, so I'm a complete noob.

Other than that, I'm very happy that it's done, and that I'm not getting caught in a first-snow mad rush.  I'm looking forward to feeling more confident about my car's stopping ability when the sloppy weather rolls around.

Yes.  I must start looking for an apartment with an attached garage.  It will have to be on the 20th floor, facing the lake, though, because I sure don't want to give up my view while Miss Jetta is up on the hoist.   :)

I will just say softer rubber, sides not as stiff.  :)

Snow tire virgin!  :)

Snow tires are made with softer rubber compounds.   They aren't as hard/stiff as your other rubbers.

I would love to have a garage with a view.  You can probably rent a driveway for a couple of hours to change over your tires.   I opted for a second set of rims with CT Nordic IceTracs for convienence.

They're just called CT Nordics now.  New generation.   :)  Do you find them wobbly?

Looks like snow is not coming anytime soon to Ottawa. I'll wait until the day before snow is actually forcasted to swap wheels on Moby Dick. I don't mind no snow, BC can keep it all ;D
