Test Drive:
2007 Nissan Versa

2007 Nissan VersaThe Nissan Versa's long wheelbase and tall roof create the roomiest cabin in its class, reports Chris Chase. "Cargo space is good too," he says, "though the Versa doesn't possess the cargo flexibility of the Honda Fit."  The Versa's class-leading horsepower and responsive continuously variable transmission provide "snappy" acceleration, he reports, but the "steering is a little numb."         More...

Good report. Tells prospective buyers most of what they need to know. Usual reservation about speedo set up. Requires bigger speedo with tacho. an option for manual versions only. This car will appeal to all segments including seniors looking for better fuel consumption. Actually I think this car leans more towards competition for the corolla/matrix vehicles. Good fuel figures.

Not sure what sales have been like but I have only seen 2 on the road in Montreal so far (and I have been  looking).  Does not seem to be selling too well here.

Also have been following all posts on Versa and have heard from people taking a look at dealership and test drives but do not think I have seen one comment from a real live Versa owner. Has anyone out there actually bought one?

Surprisingly, I DID see one in Port. We normally don't see new cars for at least 6 months - even popular ones.  Cry Grin

You had your custom order Yaris earlier than that, didn't you?  Smiley

I have probably seen 4 or 5 Versas here in Kelowna. Must be selling well here already. Not a bad looking machine for that sector, and I like the looks of it far better than the Honda Fit, and about equal to the Yaris IMO.

I went and examined one in a TO dealer yesterday.  Compared to the FIT the interior is more friendly for non-slim people but MUCH less friendly to IKEA purchases.  The salesman suggested that a given Versa , say, SL with the tech package and the CVT would be about 4-6 weeks delivery compared to the answer we got at a Honda dealer that a FIT LX with manual could be 4 months or even more.

As an aside:  Although both the cars have aux inputs on their stereos and quite big displays on the head units, neither of
them offer factory satellite radio.
