??? Where was the father if mom was in the car and assumed Meg was being looked after?

Drinking beer on the back step with a bunch of buddies. He thought Meg was going with her Mom, and Meg's Mom thought Meg was playing in the back yard with her Dad.

:shake: I feel very sad for the child, as obviously both parents had lacked the responsibility to care for children. There is no way a two year old should be out of sight or hearing range for any length of time and both parents knowing what is going on. Some people should not be permitted to have children.

"TPL, you're wrong about 1.  Generally, if you're backing up you're almost always going to be at fault in an accident.  From that point of view, it's way better to back into the spot than back out into the street.

You are correct of course Dorin.  I park that way probably out of habit as most times I need to get at the trunk.   I happened to drive through a suburb outside TO yesterday, a two cars in every driveway type suburb and I noticed that practically all the cars were parked nose in.  At the  St Lawrence market in TO I do notice that its about 50% are nose in and 50% nose out

Not a fan of people backing in to spots just to try and manouver their buggies/carts inbetween cars to load their groceries.  I've seen too many nicks and bumps.

When I was in university I backed into a motorcycle driving my dads caravan.  It was a smaller bike, say a ninja 500, and I couldn't see it out the rear window.  When I explained this to my dad he said "How about the side mirrors, that's what they are for.  You're lucky it was only a bike and not a kid".  I learned my lesson and religiously check all my mirrors when backing versus staring out the rear window.

Now that I drive the P5, it's much easier.

I drive car#1 into my inhouse garage and back out to minimize exhaust gases inside the house.  Car#2 gets to park outside so it is backed into the drive way.   The trick to backing out is to go slow and cautiously.   Every now and then I see people busting out like they are trying to escape from the cops or something.  Also a good reason to go slow driving around a parking lot full of cars and residential neighborhoods.

Even if you don't have kids, it is a good idea to do a quick walk around to make sure no one has stolen your nice rims or slashed a tire.
