My ride to Toronto and back in a rented loaded Impala had to be the most uninspiring and tiring ride ever, the latest Impala from GM is a step backwards.  Our rental was full of electrical glitches, CEL and Air bags, the vehicles tracking on the 401 was pityful, the seats were terrible, the engine was totally anemic.  Besides the good looks of the Impala it's not much of a car underneath the skin.  As for a good north american to drive, the 300 tops my list, I had one in BC for a week this spring and that car I enjoyed a lot and would consider.

which model year?   I agree with you if you talk about the last generation (up to 2005) with the 3.4 engine.  The seat in the new generation are way better but I haven't drive one yet on the road.

Re Maxima- recently replaced my 2003 Maxima and the depreciation was surprising. I would suggest when getting you next vehical to research retained value/depreciation. At the time I got the Maxima I could have got a bmw 325 for about the same outlay and at the end of four years it is worth considerably more. When I replaced the Max part of my research this time included depreciation. Having said this the Max was a trouble free, great drive for the four years. It is a very quick, safe vehical.

What I'm saying is that the depreciation was greater than I anticipated seeing as that on the whole it is a very good "vehical". However, deprciation is also a factor of the cost of ownership and operating costs, should be looked at and compared with other "vehicals" on ones shortlist.

I don't think he gets it Saf...  ::)

The Maxima and 3 series BMW are not in the same class... I would presume that you chose the Maxima for the larger size and roominess?
