I saw it by accident last weekend, 1 guy 1 girl hosting, just like DTV, then a few different reviewers, but it looks / feels just like DTV Tony and Ted are gone.

I think moving away from Tony and Ted is a good idea.  They were getting on and their views probably aren't going to attract a lot of new younger viewers.

As for DTV, I'm not a big fan of parts of the show, which ruin the entire thing for me.  I can't stand spunky boy there, and his little tirade/rant.  However, his presentation skills are a bit better than Ms. eye candy.

I don't recall a lot of 'news' or upcoming trends in the auto industry on the show.  The format is good, the delivery doesn't do it for me.

it's about time we have something like the (old) Fifth Gear. Informative yet still entertaining to watch. The new Fifth Gear is totally wacked.

Of course, there's always Top Gear.

I like Driving Television. Not very cerebral, but it's 30 minutes of looking at cars.

My problem with the old show was that they didn't show you anything or really tell you anything. They always used fancy effects when exterior and iinterior video clips, so you can't make anything out. Just show me the car dammit! I didn't mind Ted and Tony (compared to say the presenters from Driving Television), but they show is too short. It should be an hour long. The RPM show on the French channel looks more interesting and in-depth but I don't speak French.

I've seen the new Driver's Seat... I find it PAINFUL to watch and find the commentary from both male and female poor... I don't trust them even though they are in my general age group.

Now, that being said, it also takes me sometime to 'warm up' to new reviewers. Also it takes a while (many reviews) before I can understand their own personal criteria so when they say 'cramped' I know they really mean 'tiny'. Bad example I know,  but I suppose I need some sort of yard stick for comparing.

For example, one episode, they were test driving the new Cobalt with a manual gear box. I have no problems with them reviewing manual models, but since (in North America at least), 95% of the Cobalts being sold are automatic, I feel that test driving the auto would have been more prudent. Certainly taking the time to include a brief mention of the manual would have been beneficial, but the commentary focused solely on the manual option.

Perhaps Wing can shed some clearer light on this, but as I understand it, reviewers (whether print or broadcast) are at the mercy of the manufacturers to test what they're given.  I doubt there's a large inventory of every model available for the media here in Canada.  If you're going to blame anyone, blame GM's PR or Media Relations folks for that oversight.

:iagree:  Yup we are basically at their mercy.  They send us cars we drive them, no choice on options.

Occasionally we request specific models, but I don't believe option packages are choosen, typically the PR guys try to send the vehicle optioned how most will be sold.  My experience has been though we generally get fully loaded models.

You're probably right... I've proabably put the blame for this on the wrong people... However it will still take me a while before I can trust them or put their comments or reviews into perspective...

On the plus side, which I should give them credit for, the producers of this show have put in a male-female team, which is fairly rare. Also this team is closer to my demographic and COULD eventually become a trustworthy pair... I'll start holding my breath       NOW!

I don't think (actually I'm fairly certain) that male-female team are NOT the reviewers / journalists.  They are the "faces" for TV, the real guys are Tony Whitney and Wade Ozeroff, the "faces" just spew their words.
