It's finally here! 2006 Toyota Sienna LE

Well, it's finally here and in our garage after a very long wait, which wasn't necessarily bad as we got a holiday from loan payments, didn't really need the vehicle ASAP, and benefitted from two interest rate reductions to boot.   ;D

After much searching and negotiating on our behalf, our dealer located a silver Sienna scheduled to roll off the line in mid September.  Almost got our second choice colour from a trade from Quebec, but this way, we got our van as new as possible.

Our call to come pick it up (and of course finalize paperwork and make our downpayment) came while we were out of town on Friday.  We went in on Tuesday after we were back.  Only 3km on the ticker, don't think it could be any newer than that!  And since I had an unbeatable price when I negotiated, I couldn't do a tire trade negotiation without essentially throwing away what came from the factory and paying almost full price for a new set.  I was afraid we'd end up with the awful Dunlop SP Sport 4000.  To my surprise, the van wore the much less commonly OE supplied Michelin Energy LX4 - the Dunlops were rated on Tire Rack as the worst in category, the Michelins an acceptable upper middle of the pack.  Guess these will be liveable until it's replacement time.

No pictures yet, but I will post them when I get a chance, likely not for another week as I need to travel out of town next week.

Man, looks like I'm going to have to get that camera out sooner!  I'll see if I can even just get a shot of it in the garage to tide you guys over 'til I get nice outdoor shots.

Awwwwwwwwww, all couped up!

When looking at the photos first thought is 'wow, that's big'. No wonder compared to a Camry/Accord modern minivans cost more now - they're huge! Longer, wider, taller, bigger dash, more windows, seats, engine... even AWD available - all obvious but don't always think about. In that context, they're a better value than the mid-size sedans nowadays, and I guess have been for awhile.

She's definitely one huge sucker, but drives like it's a lot smaller!  Last night, my wife took her grandfather for a ride in it, and he couldn't believe how quiet it is.  When we got it at the dealership, the only way I knew it was running when the salesman pulled it out of the showroom for us was that the tach was reading just under 1,000.  Some really nice features in it that I don't know about yet.  And we have a DVD player that we are scheduling an install for.  A nice Alpine unit for half the price of the OEM Panasonic made one.  Good for stopping the "are we there yets" on a long road trip.

This weekend, I'll get to move a mattress in it - it's first real cargo load.
