Who Makes Cavalier Tires?
« on: October 10, 2006, 09:58:24 am »
All I can get is this tid-bit from Google, the actual link does not work nor does etires.com:

Cavalier Tires - 4 visits - 5 Oct
Cavalier is our house brand tire produced by Michelin. ... Traction King - Rugged lugs and stud pin capability for maximum traction. ...
www.etires.com/cavalierbrand.html

Cavalier is our house brand tire produced by Michelin. These tires are economical, durable, and give excellent all season traction.

Traction King - Rugged lugs and stud pin capability for maximum traction.

Does Michelin really make "house brands" like Cavalier?

Thanks.

It is quite possible.  Michelin and its subsidiaries BF Goodrich and Uniroyal have made "private label" tires, they still do for Canadian Tire, and have done so for Costco and Sears.  No clue if they make any of the Cavalier tires.

Can you get a look at one in the tire store?  If so, check the DOT code, and look for the first 2 characters.  You can look them up at this website to see who made them (right down to which specific factory).

Suck, squeeze, bang, blow - who wouldn't love the internal combustion engine?  ;D

Thanks!  I can look at them as they are very popular here, being used by the highway maintenance contractor and many of the loggers.

And here I was, thinking they were used mainly on actual Chevy Cavaliers...   ::)

The Cavalier brand is "manufactured by" Michelin. I know this because we actually sell this brand, just not on the web.

From this web site and the DOT number (BFHKTOJJ) it is made by UNIROYAL GOODRICH TIRE MANUFACTURING, WOODBURN, INDIANA, US.

I understand that Uniroyal/BF Goodrich is owned by Michelin.

Thanks all.
