Tenpenny, I respectfully disagree.

I grew up driving on 2 lane highways so I am comfortable with a little snow on the ground.

I'm much happier driving a speed I'm comfortable with than 50 km/hr, particularly when long drives are involved.

And for the record, I've passed somebody doing 40 km/hr on the Canal (a 60 zone) in Ottawa.  No harm, and most importantly, no letter.

In Massachusetts it is illegal to cross the single or double solid yellow line.  You can cross on the side with the single broken yellow line.  The rules are different in each province and state and country.   If you don't know the rules in the area you're driving, the safe thing to do is not cross the solid yellow line or lines.

Snowman, you could mount a high res camcorder in your car and film all those traffic violations.

Snowman, can you also name us your benefactors in your will?

WHOA, I never said anything about 8 inches of snow and slush.  Certainly in that case I'd take 'er easy.. but there isn't always that much snow when the plows are out.

Mr. Snowman....why are the dotted lines a single solid line in your video?  Why is the scenery a complete blur?  Are all those cars you are passing parked in the middle of the road?  Is your camcorder stuck on fast forward?   ;D

What amazes me about this whole thread is that it's okay to pass on a yellow line?

I'm blown away so many people are surprised by this.  There are many instances where passing on a solid yellow line is perfectly safe.  The best example I can come up with is a salt truck or snow plow doing 40-50 km/hr.  Due to the slow speeds there is no issue what so ever passing on a short stretch of solid lines.

I tend to pass when it's safe, not when some guy in a paint truck tells me I can.

I've never talked to a guy in a paint truck, so I don't know what he'd say.

Here in BC, the guy/gal in the paint truck follows a WHITE line to put down the yellow line.    It is not the driver of the paint truck that makes up the line, it is someone with a spray can of white paint.  Now where is my white paint?  Must be here somewhere.   :rofl2:
