Not finished reading your thread, but have to go now, so here's a bit about the Corolla.

Aaahhh, brings back memories. Your 2002 was better than my 2001, but you're right, the 2003+ models are a significant jump ahead. I test drove the current model twice and liked it lots.

If I were you, I'd think the deal I got was great!

I can't believe with the multiple cosmetic damages (albeit small), a 2002 Corolla can still fetch $8000 wholesale. I mean, the car wasn't that much to begin with....

Congrats Umro!  A very nice car indeed.

One of the few cars IMO, whose inherent goodness, drivability and style, belies the modest purchase price.   Good job.

Sir, You've got an eagle's eye, a Scott Archer eye indeed, hinted for you. The salon door swings wide open and both ways.  ;) part of the collection.

Thanks everyone, I truly wanted and like this car. Previous wasn't by absolute choice, I didn't even know what to look for. I've learned a lot from here atleast to check whether all 4 hubcaps are similar.  ;D

And the story about justifying the purchase. I just wanted this car.  :)

If you can afford it, wanting it is all the justification you NEED.  ;D ;D

Wow!  Lovely vehicle.  And you got a terrific deal!   :D

BTW, how are the stock tires?  How well do they perform in highway?  Any excessive wind noise?  Are you going to replace them soon?

Sorry for so many questions, but my father is looking into getting a new car (by next year), so I'm starting to do my research now.

Thanks!

The stock tires are Michelin Energy MX4, I wouldn't want to drive on them in winter now as they are half way through their life. They are rated for 40,000km. They drive fine in rain, no problems, no spinning.

Wind noise is almost non-existent, its a very quiet vehicle on the highway.

Those are the OEM tires for Camrys and you are right, do NOT try to use them as winter tires. Wife had same on her '99 Solara and I never cared for them that much, but they are engineered for low noise and good fuel economy. When we got the new '06 Solara, the first thing that got changed was the OEM tires.

Hi Umro again,

I've seen the Camry pictures now, and that's a great color!

re: Corolla vs. Camry question

Personally, I think that if someone can afford it, wants the extra space, and doesn't mind the extra size, then a Camry is a better value for a few thousand more.

Nice Camry, love the black. Hardly looks like a 'family' sedan - very agressive.

Interesting reading materials in the back. How is it?  ;D

How's the Musharraf book?

Its not black, its Magnetic Grey, I'll post proper pictures after some cosmetic changes.

The book is a memoir so everything is not a fact and English is very plain, typical army man. Starts with a mixture of 'I am good' , behind the scenes decision making processes and an attempt to explain events with his perspective. A good PR move though.

I haven't read all of it yet, so lets skip it for now ;)

Very nice Camry!! Hows the gas mileage? I am getting ~35mpg ... lol but I have an 87 Camry Wagon. When Toyota decides to bring back the Yoda Wagon I would consider buying new :)
