ha ha, they don't want us to buy base model, they want us to buy higher model for more profit, even 2006 Honda Accord DX-G doesn't have Variable Intermittent wipers, only Intermittent wipers

They are a business and businesses do these things for profit. Its upto you to decide what characteristic you want at what price. If it doesn't suite you, you look at an alternative or do you really need it that much but unwilling to pay for it. Clearly the market-demand pays for this option hierarchy.

There are other cars that come loaded with these features, but you may not like the other characteristics of that car.

Its certainly my own humble opinion when I shop.

To those that have never used their heated mirrors: do Honda mirrors have a separate switch or do they come on automatically with the rear defrost like most other cars?

Separate switch on my '99.

Separate as well on 2001 EL, but I can see that they would be now tied to the defrost.  One less switch.  ::)

HSG,

Only the LX coupe comes with the outside temp. gauge, not the sedan.

Things I would expect to see on the LX sedan, as it is the 3 model up the Civic food chain, would be audio controls on the steering wheel and 6 speakers instead of 4.  Ditto the 60/40 folding back seat.

These upgrades are probably in store for the LX's '09 mid-life refresh.

P.S.  Why not the coupe's much nicer 3 spoke steering wheel? :skid:

Get some RainX.

On my wife's Civic I just flick the wipe stalk down, rarely used the intermittent.

Minou: Try not to tell me what features my cars have... I drive these things every day of my life..The Civic LX and EX both have the outside temperature gauge, in both sedan and coupe.

With the 3 spoke wheel you can't drive with your right hand at 6 o'clock when you are highway crusing, which I personally find very comfortable. Not a fan of 3 spoke wheels for that very reason.

They come on automatically with the rear defog

yes.

Living in Victoria I think it's only of use maybe a couple times a year.  I'd rather have the alarm and trunk release stock.

I just checked the specs for the 07 sedan and coupe and indeed the outside temp. gauge is standard on both.
Oh là-là, sorry about that.

So now the LX is only lacking 3 things;
1- A pair of tweeters
2- Steering wheel-mounted audio controls
3- 60/40 split fold-down rear seatback with centre armrest

Allez Honda, you can do it!

At least HSG, YOU know what features your cars have!  That can not be said for all salesmen...

minou:

I like to add that LX is also lacking rear disc brakes and sunroof and Yes white is available on a 2007 civic sedan even though they do not show it on Honda.ca

Well, these features I see fit on the EX, especially the sunroof. :)

We've been over this before, where people want features on lower models that are not available. Every manufacturer chooses trim levels and standard equipment for each, if you want more toys these days you cannot have them a la carte, you step up to the next trim level. And let's face it, we are not talking about necessities here, 2 more speakers, audio controls on the steering wheel, and a sunroof are all luxuries. If ya can't afford 'em, buy the cheaper model...

It would be nice to be able to pick from a menu of options and select ONLY the ones you want, but this would cause too much paperwork and add confusion to the production plants.  With only 2 or 3 trim levels to make, it makes things much more efficient.

We liked all the features the DX-G offered, but hated the non-painted mirrors and steel wheel/hubcap combo... so we spent the extra cash and got the LX that took care of those things... we also benefited with little "nice-to-have" features such as the intermittent wipers, temp gauge, & heated mirrors.  These are things we could have lived without, but for the extra couple grand (which we would have probably paid for the wheels, painted trim alone) it was nice to get these as well.
