Replaced pilot bearing. Flywheel left as is. Why do I need to roughen up? (easier now than later!) No mounts yet just testing the engine position. Stock gearbox mount is usable if I weld it to the frame. Engine mounts aren't. Might be able to modify the Ford Crossflow mounts I have. Replaced pilot bearing. Flywheel left as is. Why do I need to roughen up? (easier now than later!) The actual term is "deglazing" (dunno if that is an actually word, but that is what it is called in the clutch trade). What happens is that the old clutch disc leaves some of it's material adhered to the flywheel, although it looks super smooth and shinny, and you want this off before the new one gets going on it because it will compromise the effect of the new clutch disc. PLUS it's too smooth for ideal disc seating. Technically, the flywheel is usually re-surfaced, ideally with a rotary surface grinder which leaves the same kind of a result that you find in freshly honed piston cylinders. Now if you want to avoid resurfacing you gotta at least go over the entire surface of the flywheel with a medium grit sand paper in any which way direction. I learned this because dual mass flywheels like on most Bimmers from 90's on up cannot be resurfaced so you gotta "deglaze" them by hand.

Thanks - I'll do that. To change a clutch later the motor has to come out so the longer it lasts the better. |

Hmmm .. this is sure outdated. The lastest I have the headlights working, horn done (except the horn button is now missing - argh), brake lines all done. Wiring to be done still is the gauges. Exhaust header is about to be ordered but will need to be altered since some kind person stole the metal tubing I had set a side for it right out of my yard. Getting there. Apologies for the messy garage - its not mine - just borrowing some space in it. This was a little bit of struggle since my instructions were wrong at a critical step. But its all got now as the signal lights work great front and back. Hazard lights work. All through a Ford Sierra column. Little video of it winking. http://www.flickr.com/photos/daveseven/3639608085/in/set-72157594420123373/full set of photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/daveseven/sets/72157594420123373/ |

Quite interesting. Got to "dash layout" and the pics stopped enlarging. Dunno if it's just on my end or not, but very interesting. |

thanks guys.
flickr the photo host will flake out once and a while. Should be good a few minutes later.
Any car of mine can always be for sale ... for a price. haha. This one likely is a keeper though. Unless of course someone offers really silly money for it. Best way to get a 7 is to import a 90s Caterham from Japan. |

I'm broke from home renos and various other purchases, but I could go for a trade! Let's see, what do I have... (digging in pockets) ...some lint, a paper clip, a debit receipt from Timmies and $0.83 in various coins. We have an offer!! |
