The Americans also get a choice of colours.  How hard would it be to offer a choice of colours for the Canadian model?  Having said that, I think the car looks good in red.

I would never want a flat (non-metallic) colour in my life, as paint fading is inevidable.

Shame it only comes fully loaded since a base model with the performance bits would be exactly what I'd want. It hardly needs junk six cd changers and rain sensing wipers. Would help with the sticker shock too as $31k isn't pocket change.

Shame there is no picture of the engine - I bet its pretty packed into that engine bay!

I totally agree with you, I don't know why we need rain-sensing wipers, a 6 CD changer and self-leveling xenon lights.  Good thing it doesn't come with navigation, A/C cooled seats, etc...

In the meantime Subaru can lop 5K off the MSRP for the WRX... ;)

I don't know...my 2000 Ranger pickup still looks good.

Your truck does look in good shape.

For owners of flat colour paints that do not take care (ex. wax/polish which I assume you do), this is inevidable.

almost every older car that I've delt with at Acura with flat paint looks like this

and takes a lot of work to make look like this again

I dunno my Neon's paint still looks great - I don't even wash it more than once or twice a year.

Isn't it the same metallic red from the RX8 -- "Velocity Red Mica"? Or is it the "true red" from the MX5?

EDIT:  Nope... it is a solid red like the MX-5's.  It's very, very bright on the eyes in real life too.  Just popped by the local dealership at lunch to have a look at the MS3 and the PRHT MX5 they've got out front (and get a price for Mazdaspeed springs for my car).  The "stormy blue metallic" (new colour) for the MX5 looks a little too purpley in some lights for my liking.

I saw a MazdaSpeed3 on the road the other day, it was VERY bright red, I didn't like the colour much at all.
