I imagine they are all sold for this year/next?

That is most definitely an amazing price!  :o

There's a lot of performance bang for that buck.  It's not entirely my cup of tea in terms of light and tossable, but man is it ever a bargain for what it is!

Hopefully they'll rectify the trunk issue, but that amazing price seems to overshadow that.

At that price, the GXP makes the Miata look overpriced.  But then you look at the fit and finish, the trunk space etc....and the Solstice GXP is nothing more than a fast car in a bad design.  Like the C5 Vette's....great engine but crappy interior, bad body panel fits etc.  It's a bang for buck, and the bang of the engine power is at the expense of refinement.  Some people may like it, whereas others will like a more balanced car with good power and good refinement/practicality.

I'd take one for a rip......would I buy one?  Nope....don't like the look, the trunk, nor the crappy fit of the top.

As a run around the town summer roadster with a twin scroll turbo it has settled quite nicely in my top 3 summer car list. You purist types need to tone down your elitism.

Very strange....your post says 'done down', but when I set it up for a quote 'tone down' came up.
Yes, the Sky is coming out with the same engine.   I prefer the looks of the Sky over the Solstice (putting a front plate on the Sky doesn't make it look like a dork machine....as is does with the Solstice).

I definitely prefer the looks of the Sky over the Solstice's.

As for us purists, well it all depends on what you consider preactical daily driving fun.  I think I would have more fun driving an NA Miata around town than a heavier/larger car.  For me, driving fun is more about tossability and feel than outright speed.  However if when I'll be in the market for a fun roadster, I'll definitely take a Solstice/Sky out for a drive.

I can get a pretty nice Ducati for $34,000 can't I?  Better looks, same cargo capacity and a convertible top that's nearly as effective.

I dunno... for the $4,000 over my car, I wonder how many mods that'll buy, leaving me with a machine that I can still use daily and for weekend getaways with my wife.

Yeah, the Sky Redline.  I want one too.  Damn the trunk issues; that's one hot-looking car.  And turbocharged engine + rear wheel drive + great chassis = fun.

Part of the problem with the Solstice/Sky for me is that they're only hot-looking with the top down.  With the top up they're downright ugly.  The Miata is much better looking with the top up than the Kappa twins.

I don't think the purists are critisizing the car's capabilities.  It's quick.  No question.  It's nimble as the tests so far show that it's got the guts to go toe to toe with the S2000 and Boxster....great cars in their own right.  So to say tone down to purists?  It's not a pure driving experience when you compare it to the old Lotus Elan's, NA's, Caterham's etc....but in today's more advanced world, it's pretty basic in its own right.  I think it's going to be one of the more nimble cars out there.....and with guts to match.

This "purist" doesn't like the crappy design of the folding top....how it takes up the trunk when down, and how it's a crappy look when up.
