Like the previous Santa Fe - door opens upwards. No separate glass opening, however, which would be a nice feature.

The vaccuum effect will always have the back wet and dirty in inclement weather, and I've found those hidden latches to not be immune from it either.

The hidden latches greatly decrease the level of dirt that sticks to the handle.....I've never had any dirt (if I recall) stick to the latch on our MDX....and we've caked some pretty serious ice/snow/dirt/water on the thing.

I agree with MdX5s comment. Having had a few of them myself, the hidden latches get less dirty.
