I am curious to know what kind of fuel economy the 07 santa fe can deliver.  I find the fuel ratings a little low for a 3.3L engine. What can someone expect in real world numbers.

I apologize if I'm wrong, but if you're the new incarnation of Canadianbacon from this thread then I suggest you start off with an apology and we may be willing to forgive you.

To err is human, to blame it on someone else is even more human.

To try and make something useful out of this thread (BTW, good catch, dorin  ;)), I did follow a new Saant Fe out of my neighborhood the other day, and I remember thinking it looked like the Subie Tribeca only a lot more balanced than the Subie, which I think is rather ugly in the rear end. The Santa Fe looked quite attractive but I didn't really see the entire vehicle.

I walked by a black one...it's really quite nice inside and out.  From the looks of it anyway.  One of the guys who works for me is considering for the family hauler.....

I was in a Hyunadi dealership a couple of weeks ago and looked at an old Santa Fe in the showroom and a new one out on the lot and the difference between the two is huge. I wouldn't call the old one bad but the new one is sooo much nicer inside and out. The new Santa Fe is not flashy but is nicely bland. It looks like a very well executed vehicle.

I agree that they could have dumped the handle off of the old model. They changed so much with the new design, you think that they could have done something else - how about canabalizing the squeeze-swith in the handle from the Tuscon or Entourage??

Other than that, I like what I see, and like how it's packaged. This will be another good seller for Hyundai I am sure - if for nothing more than the overall $$value$$ it presents.

Awwwwwww, I like they kept the old rear handle design. It's a funky element and less minivan like.

You do have a point sirA - it just's seems more quirky than funky to me. Not that it matters, I am not about to buy one, so why worry, be happy!

Quirky, funky, maybe, but very very functional.  Big ass handle is easy to grab and hoist open the hatch.

Maybe....but I dislike because it's completely exposed and will be dirty in 2 seconds in rain or snow driving.  I much prefer the release my MDX has....where it's underneath a 'brow' and somewhat concealed from the elements.

I see this type of handle more likely to not only get dirty, but also freeze in the winter.

Similar style handle used on last generation as well, and I drove one all winter last winter, and it never froze.  The latch under the "brow" above the license plate has been universal on suevee's and vans for a long time, and in my experience the large Santa Fe handle is easier to use one handed to hoist the hatch in one motion.  I've got an entourage, S'fe and Tucson in a row in the showroom, I just tried em all in a row, they are all pretty easy, but the Sfe marginally better.

To each their own though! ;)

I've driven in the slushy stuff out here and the rear door often gets caked with wet snow...which freezes in the wind.  I agree with you in that it might be easier to grip as it's probably more ergonomic...but with gas struts, all are pretty easy.

Have you had troubles with a dirty handle?  ;)
