Test Drive:
2007 GMC Yukon Denali

2007 GMC Yukon DenaliRedesigned for 2007, the GMC Yukon "has redefined the full-size SUV segment," says Haney Louka. The top-of-the-line Denali model features a 380-horsepower 6.2-litre V8 engine and six-speed automatic transmission, a third-row seat and many luxury options. "The Denali proved an ideal highway cruiser with a smooth ride, great power, and comfortable seats," he says, but fuel consumption wasn't as good as advertised.  "We averaged 14.2 L/100 km (20 mpg) during our trip from Calgary to Winnipeg."    More...

Saw one of these in black lastnight and it looked to be optioned out the same way. From a far, it looked like it had been customized (that is "pimped" out) but when I got closer I saw that everything was still stock (including the tail lights which looked like they were aftermarket).

Definately not for me. I can think of much better ways to spend 69 grand. The Yukon has too much of a weird front end in my eyes. Almost like it's bug eyed. I much prefer the looks of the new Tahoe and Escalade.

Interesting read to compare to James' review of the new Escalade...  it does sound like GM is making a big splash with these new trucks (I really like the look of the new Tahoe, too).  Only time will tell if the market is there to support them, though.

The design of the 3rd row of seats is terrible.  No cargo room with the seats up and you have to remove them instead of folding flat.  The Acadia and Outlook both have fold flat 3rd row AND there is lotsa space behind the 3rd row when it's in place.

It looks like I have more cargo room behind my third seat.

That's brutal for a full size.

On top of that, it looks like I have more 2nd row legroom too.

Where did all the space go?

14L/100km didn't impress? Depending on speed travel that is not bad at all for such a large vehicle. The 5 series touring they had before would have been hard pressed to get 9-10L/100km on premium.
