If you don't want any troubles with the car buy the Toyota, why would anybody buy a Dodge???

Right, I keep forgeting about all toyotas recalls and slipping quality. You can probably get better financing on a Vibe.

 Hi, everyone:

You all helped me greatly in making a decision.  I just bought an immaculate 2003 Vibe with 88,000 km - all white, white mouldings, rack, etc. so it looks more like a Matrix, which I preferred originally.  It has all the upgrades (ABS, side air bag, keyless, A/C, cruise, wheel upgrade, etc.) and was had for $14,500.  It was about $8-9,000 less than the 2006s that didn't have the features I wanted.  I had a dealer I really trusted in Waterloo look out for one at an auction and he bought it knowing I'd want it...and he was right.  So, I'm now a happy Vibe owner and will wait to see what 2008 models bring with Matrix and Vibe, etc.  If I'm not impressed, I'll keep this for a few years when I don't need the great functionality this (and the Matrix) offers.

Your suggestions, food for thought, and frank opinions were very well received by me. Thanks again, my friends   :)

Good job!  That's a pretty good price for that year and options.  Another one of the few cars that look great in white.

That is a good buy. I've been pricing out a new Vibe, and it is surprising how expensive they get with side airbags, antilock, stability control. A lot of things that come standard in the new generation (Fit, SX4, etc) are thousand dollar options in the Vibe and they add up fast.

Used Vibe is a smart choice, especially when its Pontiac nameplate means it loses value faster than a Matrix with Toyota badge. ;)

It wasn't by chance Frank Gies Auto in Waterloo, was it? He sold my friend a car he got at auction. He has a good reputation where I work.

Oh, and congratulations!!! That sounds like a great buy!

with everyone out there STILL complaining about the Hyundai Pony. Which by the way my family owned with no issues at all until we missed one rustcheck when the car was 16 years old and we almost lost her... That was at over 700,000 kilometers.

Holy cow, you guys actually owned a Pony for 16 years?  And put 700,000kms on it??   :o

I bought mine used when I was 17, owned it for 6 months, and barely put 5,000 kms on it before the engine died (think it had 120,000 kms on it).  And I didn't beat the crap out of it or take it in the woods for ride.  Heck I even bought new tires for it 2 months into ownership.
