1998 Nissan 200sx SE-R
« on: August 09, 2006, 11:56:37 pm »
Well, after years of studying and a few months working, I finally have a car to call my own.
It may not be the fastest, but it's definitely a decent car for me! I totally love it... even the stiff clutch. haha

Oops! Sorry, they're a bit on the large side...

That looks mint.  Black is a tough colour to buy used.  Typically all the chips, swirl marks etc are easily visible to the naked eye.  Pics look good....enjoy the car.  Mods coming?  ;)

First order of business is the oil change. Second is a body makeover (polish, wax, clean, etc).

Mods will definitely come in time. I've already got a few plans such as K&N Filter, Coilover suspension, new alloy rims and better tires. Probably nothing too major yet, though. I still have to learn to drive the thing! haha

But even stock, I love it!

Congrats on the purchase.   Looks very nice.   Is the car based in B.C.?

I didn't even know the 200SX was in production in 1998.  The black looks great for an older vehicle!  I wouldn't bother with a K&N air filter unless you're doing the whole Cold Air Intake, though...  the filter on its own isn't good for much.

Looks to be in good shape. Congrats on your first car. Any chance of getting pics of the rear and interior?

Congratulations - looks almost identical to the '95 200SX SE I owned for a brief period. The biggest plus was that with the 1.6-litre engine (I know yours is the 2.0) it was fantastic on gas - 5.4 L/100 km on the highway. Hope the SE-R isn't too far off that.

Nice Nice Nice !  ;D

I would wait a bit for the mods. A year or so. Suspension is almost a 'must' thing, I really dislike like the stock setup (for some reason), the rest of the car is great.  :) Maybe a nice sounding exhaust, decent brake pads that matches your driving habit, and a good brand name brake fluids. And of course, decent tires.  :)

Leave the engine/power mods to later, the stock SR20 loves to rev as it is.  :)

Edit:

The 2.0 SR20 is kinda of a pig on gas consumption by comparison to the 1.6.  :) The horses are thirsty.

A few more pictures. Including the interior :)
Current plans for mods right now is limited to new tires (probably stick with stock rims), mud flaps and maybe a NISMO stick or something. Suspension is definitely on my top 10 list, but have to see what's a good combination first... this car needs a bit of a drop :P

Car needs to be dropped.  And that shifter looks like an adult plaything...a new knob is in order...maybe a shorter stick.  ;)

Interior looks to be in great shape too.

Nice car - these and their 4-door Sentra sisters look way better than the cars that followed them.  Hope you have many fun, trouble free kms!

I like!

Nice chunky steering wheel, I like those.

Nice two-tone color cloth.

Car will definitely need lowering. the rear is okay, but the front has a big huge gap. Could probably fit a family in there or something.
Steering wheel is actually 'just chunky enough' for me. I like it a lot.
So far, there have been trouble free km's. No big major problems or anything of that sort, thankfully. This car will definitely need an oil change, among other things. 97,780km means some stuff needs to be replaced.

What's the orange light on the tachometer?

That would be the OEM alarm system.
And yes, those gauges are... well, I'm assuming, stock.
