MSRP is $18840 and dealer invoice is $17572.  All this excludes taxes, freight, etc.

So what is a good price to offer?  Or is this already a good price?  What should the markup be approximately?

$500 over invoice isn't a bad deal, it's probably pretty good.

Ditto. 500 over invoice seems like a great deal for a Corolla. Especially at 2.9% financing. Yes, it's year end, but they are very popular cars.

Several months ago, a dealer would not sell me one for less than $900 over invoice.

 >:(

You would be laughed off the lot if you offered $500 over invoice in BC. Try full MSRP.

Unbelievable, that is sad....  >:(

Prufrock, any luck e-mailing dealers?

I did that to buy the TSX. E-mailed and corresponded with several. You can tell a lot by the way they respond to your e-mail......

I'm not financing or leasing, buying cash.  Should that make a difference to the price?

I don't think so... $500 is really not much up from invoice.

I have never heard anything less than 300 over invoice.

In 2007 I purchased a 2006 Mazda 5 GS with air (leftover 2006 but new with 50kms on the clock) for a total cost, including GST (no PST as I live in Alberta) $23,300 cash out the door.  We were only able to negotiate a reduction from MSRP of $1,500 before tax (that was my only "win" as they wanted to deduct the $1500 after tax... increased my cash savings by a whopping $90!  ;D ) on the 2006.

No dealers in the city would deal on the 2007's.  It was funny really, I hit all three dealers and none had any desire to move on price actually none pressed for a sale... here's msrp, give me a call was the standard line.  A couple also started with the, "Mazda 5!  Great car!  I just sold 5 yesterday" line  :)  Problem was, it was likely true!  The sales dude at the last Mazda dealership we visited was just finishing the delivery on a 5 as we arrived.  Methinks this a hot seller.

chris, I would like to borrow your time machine, please.  ;D You bought a car in 2007 already. I would like to explore some future models and report back.

2007 Hyundai Entourage (minivan) GL Comfort.  MSRP: 31,995 + 1545 Freight + PDI  + $100 Air Tax = 33,640

I paid, $31,990.

Just as a side note, Toyota would not give me a written quote for a Sienna. Long story short, I left without getting a quote, but had indicated that payments on the Entourage would be just under $620/month (no downpymt, 0% financing) and I wanted to pay the same for the Sienna. They called me back 2 days after I purchased the Entourage and said they would give me $620/month, which is equivalent to a price of $28,200 (+1390 Freight + 100 air tax) versus MSRP of 30,800. Never received a written quote, so that may be meaningless....

2006 Toyota Sienna XLE. Officially I ended up paying PST and GST on Canadian $32,100 after exchange, plus around $300 bucks CDN in misc border and inspections fees.

How crazy is the Canadian pricing? Suggested Canadian MSRP (pretty much non-negotiable) for my vehicle: $44,630, $14,500 more than I paid. I got pretty much top of line with leather, traction + stability control, etc, for just a couple bucks more than cmbergho paid for his lower end Hyundai Entourage.

I have a hard time believing this.  If so I'd go buy one right now.
