3 Years Old and Still Beautiful
« on: July 28, 2006, 05:12:13 pm »
I've kept my car fairly pristine over the last 3 years, including the occasional hand wax job on top of a paid hand car wash job.

Well, I did the "shining", so now I'm doing the "showing"!  ;D

Glad you like it.

The reason I pay to have it washed is due to a lack of room.  I don't have a driveway and my garage is around back off a narrow city lane.  I used to wash it in the garage until I shorted out my garage door sensors due to excessive water.  :o >:(

There is a savings in time to consider as well.  As others have pointed out, people with families don't always have a lot of time on their hands.  I'd rather spend time with the wife and kids than doing chores like washing the car.

As a result, I decided to get it washed, while doing the occasional finishing work myself, such as waxing.  :D

It does look very nice

Would you mind sharing the following with us?
   1. How many Km?
   2. What is your observed avg fuel economy? City? Highway?
   3. Any warranty issues?

Thanks!

Well what questions 2 & 3 have to do with "show 'n shine" I'm not sure but I'll oblige:

1. Km:  Just over 20,000.
As pointed out in another thread, I drive < 10,000 Km per year.  Most of that is winter driving, during which the AWD kicks in quite a bit.

2. Fuel economy:   Pretty close to official estimates (16 - 18 L /100 Km city & 10 - 11 L /100 Km hwy).  In winter it's worse, as one might expect.

3. Over the last 3 years, I've had the digital clock module replaced, a drive shaft technical service bulletin addressed and a wonky fuel guage replaced.

That's it, other than regular maintenance and getting it rust proofed for the last 2 years.  (Krown)

Nice 'n shiny!

I've seen new cars in the showroom that don't look that shiny! Good "hand wax job" random! It looks great. :)
