Beuerman said typically vehicles are securely fastened

Did they park all the trucks and SUVs on one side (hmmm... meaning what type? Pathfinders, Muranos, annnndddd 4Runners?..) and small cars like Mazda3 and Yaris on the other?

Don't think they 'secure' for conditions of sideways ship leaning (tho I'm sure they do have some mighty strong straps or something), so I'd love to see a photo of the inside.

Well it's an interesting strategy to keep the Big 3 from losing more market share.   ROFL

I can imagine the environmental impact of that many cars going down will be quite large.

Or recovering the cars and selling them.  I can see the ad now - "Slight Water Damage"

The ship is apparently leaking oil and fuel into the ocean as well... not good.

Hard to guage scale in that photo. It doesn't look THAT big. Certainly wouldn't have imagined it could carry nearly 5,000 vehicles.  Shocked  Conflicting reports - some say it was going from Singapore to BC, but Japan makes more sense as what cars would be imported from Singapore and I guess the ship was built and/or registered there. What the heck was the ship doing all the way up near Alaska anyway? Do they not sail more southernly than that???

Poor factory order customers.

There had better not be Mazda5's on there!!!  Angry

RICHMOND, BC (May 4, 2005) – Fraser Wharves Ltd. set a new record at Fraser River Port for the greatest number of vehicles discharged from a single ship, when M.V. COUGAR ACE delivered 5,214 automobiles on May 4, 2005.   Grin
