Moving car from Canada to US
« on: July 19, 2006, 10:34:16 am »
Hi, guys!

What involved in moving car from Canada to US:
- Does the warranty still OK?
- Do I need to certify this car in US?
- Any other issues that I'm missing?

Thanks a lot in advance.

EDIT:  Just ignore this, it is ALL WRONG.

ME BAD  :stfu:

More info please.

Are you a Canadian who is buying the car in the US and importing it?

Are you an American moving to Canada and bringing the car with you?

What brand of car is it?  Not all US warranties are honored in Canada when the vehicle is brought in permanently (ie Honda does not, but Nissan and Toyota do).

Check this thread for more info/links on importing a car into Canada

I did take a BMW 528e from Alberta to Colorado back in 1983 on a re-location move for a company. I had no trouble registering it and in fact, selling it down there. That was 23 years ago and I do forget the paper work required but it was not much IIRC. The car was part of "settlers effects" ie. possessions taken on the move that were owned prior to the move. Sorry, this is not much help.
