The Corvette I drove is still I think the highlight of my driving.  I haven't been in many high performance cars  :(
i have been in a couple of corvettes, but never driven one...i have driven a 911, and i think it would be tough to beat that experience.

I didn't like the C5 vette either, until I drove it.  Forgot about the horrible horrible interior and shitty details, I was giggling the entire time.

I still remember every Vette I have driven, going back to a 1965 327 convertible. Still remember my 1990 black on grey convertible the best, of course. What a blast that was to drive!!!

I still get a kick out of driving my friends 1979 L82 4 speed. My 300C will eat it alive, but driving that thing is a real kick in the ass.

There is a quasi abandoned L82 Vette a few doors down from me. The body looks good, the interior is trashed and it is an auto :( I am thinking I could grab it for $500. How much for a 4 speed swap?

Last time I did a 4 speed swap, it cost me about $1500. Then again that was on my Trans Am, more than 2 decades ago. :)

The transmission is the easy part. Getting the pedals, linkages, etc. would be a PITA, I would think.

I should look into this some....

Yep, completely agree.  My Uncle has a C5 Z06 and I've driven it many times.  It's absolutely impossible to drive it without having a big ass grin on your face!!   ;D

And ain't that what an enthusiast car is all about? And how many get that wrong?
:iagree:
I've never driven one, but I'd love to try one!

Have to agree with an earlier poster, I like the early Vettes better for style, but for performance, against the older ones, this no doubt wins hands down.

I think this vehicle is more of a weekend vehicle rather then an everyday driver, especially if you are a commuter who has to sit in rush hour traffic. 505 HP is wasted when standing still. Early mornng rides up the Coq and OK connector with little or no traffic here in BC, would be awsome. As would be some of the twisty, lightly travelled roads.
