I used clay bar to remove thousand specs of christmas tree sap.  That took at lot of work.   Next time I'm going to wrap the christmas tree in a blanket before putting it on the roof rack.

I use it once then chuck it.  It traps a lot of dirt and grime on it.  You can get a pack of them from NAPA....

I'd call that wasteful (or either you're not cleaning the car well enough before using it, or, you're dropping it).

You should be able to do an average sized sedan about 6 times before its time to replace it (as per Mother's clay bar recommendations, if I recall correctly).

Although the NAPA recommendation might be something I'll look into... :)

Clay bar my cars twice a year....and the cost of the clay....I'll use my method and keep a clean bar for each time I do the cars.  I try to do both cars at once so I guess I do 2 cars per bar.  That's it.
