I've seen a few Golfs and Jettas with Rave alloys, but not many. There was a Beetle that came with them at no charge for a time, so seen a few more of them. They were/are one of VW's least expensive accessory wheels (I think even the 15" ones are more than the Rave 16"ers) but I happened to really like them. They weren't flat like many others (spokes are recessed at the edges, sticking out toward the middle but sunken in with the VW logo and bolts), looked very cool when spinning at slow speeds, and you could see thru to the brake disc well when looking at them at highway speeds. Was really happy with them and was glad I sprung for 'em.
I tell ya, don't know how people drive around in big vehicles. Notice a big difference in fuel economy versus the TDI, but that was rated for 50mpg city / 64mpg highway with the same 55L fuel tank, so with just about anything I bought I'd see a difference. GTI is rated at 28-30 city / 41 highway, which is not BAD for the engine, tire size, and weight (3,400lbs) of the car. With the first tank I had a range of 595kms (filled up when the low fuel light came on, calculated using the tripometer and distance to empty remaining). I'm half-way on my current tank and it's indicating 580kms (with more city driving). So, if it keeps up like this I'll be alright with it; hopefully once the engine is broken in it will get even better. Around 60-110km/h the fuel economy is really great in 5th and 6th gear (the instantaneous fuel economy readout is very neat), but any stab at the turbo really makes the consumption jump quick, so people that truely work the gears on the car and rev 'er up every chance they get won't be seeing brilliant fuel economy numbers, that's for sure. But with the way I drive (normally, with the odd stab at the throttle for kicks and passes) should be fine. I'll report back later once more kilos are on the odometer.
