Yes the speed is important to me as well as I don't need to be the fastest guy on the block but won't be the slowest one either. Trainman if you change the injectors on the engine in the LAV you posted you can hit those speeds on occasion but not usually. You need to use the N65 ones to open it up a little more.  Thats generally something that happens after they left the factory or were ordered in that configuration.  They are a great unit to drive. :)

Oh it's a spunky little devil, but I wouldn't want to go to the drag strip. My choice does say a lot about my priorities though. I have a solution to those difficult passes on 2-lane roads - I sit back, relax, and don't try to pass.  8)

One should never push and try to pass on a two lane road if it isn't safe but when there are two slower moving cars together up ahead it can make passing very difficult or impossible for anyone else depending on the road. If I were driving on such a road I would be concerned about holding up traffic behind me if I were behind a slower driver.
To err is human, to blame it on someone else is even more human.

The Hyundai Azera reaches 60mph faster than the Civic Si (6.5 seconds versus 7.2 seconds, according to a quick Google search).  So no, 0-60 times are not a high priority for me, and I don't think they're a very good proxy for driving excitement.

0~60 time is not everything, nor the first priority to most of us. However, it does show how fast a car starts. To some daily city-driving souls, like me, starting faster after red light definately brings some fun, adds spice on the dull blands days.

yup.  lugging around 6 airbags and shifting into 3rd at 95km/h will do that.

it's just part of the equation. Our current family hauler reaches that in 5 ticks. Ask me how many times I tried it? TWICE. Both times for timing it at a controlled environment. 99% we drive like sissies. Mazda3s, civics and Dodge Voyagers would out drag us at the lights. But it's nice to know that I can if I want.  :)

Handling is way more important to me. I feel little need to buy a car with a large V6/V8 engine.

I agree.

And chances are, those large V6/V8 engines are so heavy that they'll negatively impact a car's handling.

Thus, an Accord 4-cylinder (to me) felt much lighter and a lot easier to throw around in curves than the Accord V6.

To me, the most important factor is reliability and value.

So how important is 0-60 time when buying a car?

Not in the least important. Never even think about it.

Even a so-called fast car would be an exercise in frustration when your're used to showroom stock bikes that do it in under 3 seconds and quarter miles in 9.5 seconds.

I look for reliable transportation in a car. Better gas mileage will be the number one factor in my next purchase.
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

A car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir your soul!

A true driver's car does not have cup holders.

Someone has to wise up those that pop in asking new car buying questions with respect to PDE and admin fees. We have too many with agendas here that won't.
