Sixy's 2 year anniversary, and then some
« on: July 03, 2006, 12:51:03 am »
Its been just about 2 years since I've had the 6, and its been a great run. A lot of spirited driving including a rather nasty 47 over ticket, some good trips and about 35K kms on her. Have never had any problems with her other than people not respecting other's property. So here are a few pics after today's wash.

More Hids. Looks much better at night.

Which brings me to the second part of the post. I've already had problems with people opening doors on my car, infact I think there was a rant about that a year or so back. Well the door dings have continued, and then people in the GTA decided to step it up.  >:(

I need some suggestions on repairs.

Some ass clown clipped my front left after christmas while I was reverse parked at Square One and drove off. Not sure what needs to be done on those scratches, I know a buff wont work because I've already waxed and buffed and this is what they look like. Repaint?

This happened in early spring in downtown TO. If you look closely, the assclown's yellow paint is still in the scratches. They extend all the way from the bumper onto the fender leaving some metal exposed. Bumper repaint and fender refinish? Meh.. confused.

And here's the coup de grace. Someone backed into her while she was parked at UTM. And again, drove off!!  :banghead:

Luckily there are no dents, is just paint scraped right off. I guess this one means that the bumper needs to be stripped and repainted.

Sigh.. this is gonna cost me.  :(

Nice looking car.  The black really pops when clean.  Good job on washing it too.

Nice car.  How about wrapping bubble pack around the car after you've parked?

Sorry, I don't know anything about auto repair, but your Mazda 6 is very nice.  8) I love that black.

I wouldn't bother doing anything with the bumpers.  They're plastic so they won't rust.  They're also expensive to repair and you just know that in a couple of months some other asshat is going to put fresh scuffs in them.

The only damage I'd get to right aways is the one that's on the metal.  You can never fix/touch that up soon enough.

Sh!t happens man.  I feel your pain with the car, that's why I never bought one that would tie me in knots if it took a door ding or scratch.

Unless you are looking to sell it I'd say live with it.   It looks great in black though.

The 6 looks great in black Oz, however it is very time consuming to keep it looking good. I would lose it completely if I had to park my car on a daily basis in the GTA.

Welcome to my world. Everyone who sees my car always tells me it looks brand new because I hand wash and wax regularly - so you can imagine my ire when they see the damage. Hate it when people pull crap like that. Actually I left my phone number and details on a car I saw get smacked by a door from a minivan the other day. Im hoping they call so I can help em with the cops.

On the other hand I got a quote in the mid 900s for a partial repaint of where the scratches are. Im thinking I can do better. Maybe get the bumpers repainted for $300 each, and then a partial fender repaint for $200. Pity because the car is completely glossy otherwise.
