First Drive:
2007 Hyundai Accent two-door hatchback

2007 Hyundai Accent hatchbackStarting at just $13,495, Hyundai's new two-door Accent hatchback "is a quality product at an affordable price," says Managing Editor, Grant Yoxon.  "The Accent is surprisingly quiet and comfortable," he says, however its 1.6-litre motor is "not particularly peppy," and "there are no plans to build a four-door hatch."  Standard equipment is generous, but side and curtain airbags are available only on the top-of-the-line model.      More...

I just checked one out today. I am impressed with its interior materials and fit-and-finish. There are more soft plastic than Yaris while the HVAC knobs have high-quality tactical feel!

The standard tires are large 185/65R14 all-season radials.

 Roll Eyes Huh

Try finding a 13" tire anymore, nevermind anything smaller.  14" tires are not "large" by today's standards by any stretch of the imagination.  Suitable, yes, but not large.

Otherwise, decent review.  Both the new Accent and the Rio5 look great in person.  Didn't really take a good look, but from the outside I thought "hey, that's a nice looking car".  Add that to Hyundai's increasing reliability, warranty, and price and you've got a real winner.

I think the sedan version is odd looking, but I'm liking the looks of the hatch. Seems like a decent all around vehicle  Thumbs up

Nothing earth shattering.  Looks to be a fantastic value....but I can't help notice that the exterior shape reminds me of the late 90's Civic hatch.

Good car and value.

The Sport should be available with SABs tho. I guess the Sport SR will get them later from another source I read.

Maybe I'm being a total nit picker, but the people who write these reviews need to pay more attention to detail.  The last Tercel hatch available in Canada was a 1990 model.  From 1991-1999, Tercels only came with a trunk.  If a reviewer can't get a simple historic fact right, it leads me to question the value and thoroughness of the rest of the review.

Those Tercels were so boring to drive but serve me so well as a learner's car. Grin

Clearly this car isn't going to set any trends but it's a better value
than that ugly Honda Fit.

Both are nice-looking hatches that serve new drivers relatively well. Wink
