Touchless car washes
« on: June 20, 2006, 03:09:53 pm »
What are your preferences? I've found that Sunoco's are the best as far as getting all the dirt and grime off. Theres another touchless carwash place here in Mississauga called Denny's on Mavis just south of Burnhamthorpe. Absolutely amazing touchless carwash, they also remove brakedust and hand dry the car with new microfibre towels coming fresh out of an industrial laundry machine. All for $12. Everytime I go there I run into an exotic. Last time it was a Bently Continental GT and the time before that a Quatraporte (sp?).

But is it true that touchless washes get water into your headlights? I just gave sixy a wax about a week ago - do touchless carwashes take the wax off?

Touchless car wash = nobody touches your car?  So why do they hand dry your car? (Just curious)

I've been to many "touchless" car washes with a white car ... they never remove all the dirt off.  Sure they take off a lot but there's always a flim of dirt left on the car in a few places.  Nothing beats a bucket of soapy water and an hour of your time.  ;D

Then that would be a touchless car dry  ;D

I don't think so as everytime you drove in the rain you would have the same issue.

Never had dust/film left over from the Denny's place. The guy  that runs the car through the jets goes over it to make sure nothing is left over before they hand dry the car.

Sunoco is great too, as far as touchless washes go. But you're right about some spots having dirt left over.

Personally Im wondering if its going to wash me car wax off.

:iagree:  Car washes?  No thanks.  Better off using a quick detailer and a soft cloth if you're in a rush.  At least you get better results.    :)

I am told by a detailer the chemicals in touchless is bad for your finish, if you use one just use the rinse cycle

Its also for people who don't have garages or driveways.

Touché.

I am fortunate to live in a city where there are lots of coin-operated wand wash outfits, and although not ideal, it was possible to bucket wash without getting flak from the operators.

These are getting very scarce here and the closest one is 8km away. I go to the Esso Touchless Car Wash on my way home. Sometimes I still see a thin film of dirt on the windscreen after the wash. In my case its better than nothing.

Eight WHOLE kilometers?  Yes...that's quite the hardship.   ::)

Yes, better than nothing.  The thin film of dirt is exactly why touchless carwashes are far from perfect.  But on the windshield it's nothing that glass cleaner and a clean cloth wouldn't fix.

Yes, its quite the hardship.  :P Because I wash the car after filling up and I don't go out of my way to get 'cheap' gas either. And after driving for about an hour in the city, we are anxious to get home.  :)

Thats what I end up doing, that thin film area is where the wipers don't wipe.

Silver cars are good for lazy people to own, yet laziness should not be inferred.  Although with a case of OCD such as yours perhaps a car in a darker colour is in order?   :-*
