Not quite, there is a review board. A lot jockey supervisor as you stated would not exactly count or carry much weight. b. Two references from supervisors or colleagues or existing AJAC members. implies more a supervisor at a publication. You may be the only 'automotive commentator' at a local newspaper so there would obviously be no AJAC members working there, but your editor of the paper could vouch for you.
I think the goal is to ensure anyone seriously involved in the industry can get in, but those who are just doing it on a whim cannot. Like I said before, it used to be a lot harder to be accepted but they want to increase membership right now.
OK, thanks. So say I write an article or two for BDFD (as I've noticed other 'budding' journalists have, not saying I would either) then I would need two AJAC members to vouch for me (like James or yourself (?)) and 'then' I can get the Porsche for a weekend?

Why does AJAC want it's members to rise, other than the obvious increased revenues.
