Mini update
« on: June 13, 2006, 09:08:26 pm »
Well, the Mini now has 1300 km under its belt.  The good news is the car is a hoot to drive.  The  bad news is that a few minor quality issues have surfaced.
1.  the driver's seat moves backwards and forwards on acceleration and de-acceleration.
2.  a sometimes buzz in the dash.
3.  sometimes takes two or three tries to start (warm only)
4.  clicking noise (in back) when brakes are applied (just started).
These are just minor issues, and we plan to take the car to the dealer next month.  The first oil change/service isn't until 14,000 km!!
Because of the 2000 km 'break-in' I haven't really opened her up.  Hopefully, in a few weeks I can take her out with my two Miata friends (turboed and supercharged) and go for a good run.  I'm interested to see how she does, compared to the two Miiatas.
1997 track/street Miata - I need a turbo!

Really? That must be really frustrating. Glad the funness of the car makes up for all the minor glitches though.

Ya, minor stuff...the steering and suspension make up for it.

We adjust the seat all the time...and haven't had any sheet issues.  The hatch rattles like crazy over bumps...and it has since new.  No issues with the brakes.

It doesn't feel nearly as light as my Miata did (or as my P5 does today)...but the Mini gets better the faster you go...it's so stiff, that running errands around town beat you up a little (hey, you wanna play, you gotta pay in my opinion).
If it flies, floats or f#%&s...rent it.

I can' wait until the engine is broken in, so I can go for a run with my two driving buddies.  Both have older Miatas.  One is turboed and the other is supercharged. I figure power will be about the same, and handling....we'll see. ;D
