Those fuel mileage numbers are pathetic. I thought my CR-V was bad at 9.5 l/100.

Its too bad we can't get the 2.2L diesel version that KIA buyers can get overseas. Gobs of torque for a tiny 4 cylinder engine.

My solution to the airbag problem is disconnect the light.  I sooner do that than pay $1600.  Sounds pretty reliable though.

I'm convinced that fuel economy of SUV is related to weight and drag.  An ex-GF had a 2001 CR-V.  Same numbers as the '99 - 9.5l/100km highway, 12.5l/100km town.  My Cherokee, similiar size, weight and drag does 11km/100km highway and 13.5l/100km with an engine twice the size.

See, the point of buying a vehicle with 6 airbags was that they would deploy in case of an accident and help prevent serious injuries or death... by 'disconnecting the light', all I'd be doing is ignoring the fact that we're back in the 70's in terms of safety. Not an option.

Regarding fuel economy, that makes sense.

Well you're special. Most people I know want great gas mileage.  ;)
What you won't find in my car is a coffee, cigarette and a cell phone. What you will find is a driver; imagine that, a driver in a vehicle. What an effing concept!

A car has to do more than just perform; it has to stir your soul!

A true driver's car does not have cup holders.

I'm not convince any CUV would get THAT much better than our Sportage in similar driving conditions.

You'd think that manufacturers would want an edge by installing diesel engines in a type of vehicle that pretty well gets terrible gas mileage to start off with, for various reasons. The Sportage diesel uses 7 city and 5.4 highway.

$1600 for 3  similiar repairs is a bit of a hose job, IMHO -  8 hours of labour? Seems crazy - but what do I know...  I think they should have covered you.  $1600 is the better part of a transmission replacement...

I can believe the 8 hours of labor... they had to basically rip apart the whole interior of the vehicle, pretty much every interior panel, all of the center console from floor to ceiling, all of the all of the cargo area, etc. It was a major job to redo all the wiring related to the air bag system to reach all the sensors. Huge job.
