Clearly they're not basing this entirely on reliability here!  The G35?  It's a great machine... but a better used car bet than any Lexus or Acura ???

The other head-scratcher is the Grand Marquis.  Geez.. isn't the Avalon considered a "large car" now?

No surprise with the Miata though.

maybe the G35 loses its value quicker than the Acura and Lexus offerings, making it a better buy, even if it's costly in brakes...?

Edmunds (their spelling) has never seemed to care much about little things such as reliability in their cars evaluations.  ::) :P

well they did pick 7 japanese vehicles out of 10... out of those, only the G35 has somewhat questionable reliability (compared to Lexus equivalent)... so they have to take reliability into account to a certain degree.

I've had two G35's and I found them to be just as reliable as my Acura.  My only complaint was rapid pad wear on my 03 which they replaced under warranty.  This was supposedly corrected in 05.

I can't comment on Lexus as I have never owned one.

My 05 has almost 50,000 km on it and hasn't seen the dealer once.  I get my oil changes at a nearby Nissan dealer on a drive through basis and changed the cabin air filter myself.

They chose the Crown Vic because of its bullet-proof reliabilty...  it might not be as refined or reliable as the Avalon, but when they balance cost of aquisition with cost of mantinence, the CV comes out on top...

And methinks the buyer of a sport sedan isn't as worried about reliability as the buyer of an economy car.

I was making a general observation about the Edmunds reviews and reports that I have read over the last 7 years or so, not so much about this specific article.

To me it just shows how little they really know about vehicles as to not have any GM products on the list is just simply ridiculous. GM builds many vehicles that are top in their class and its a shame Edmunds is blind to this fact.  :(

Yeah, like the HHR!  But it competes with, um, one vehicle.  GM might build decent cars, but none of them (save maybe the Corvette) can be called top in their class...

Of course, how stupid of them to exclude GM from the list. They really do know nothing about vehicles. After all, if you base your entire business and livelihood on testing, comparing, commenting on, and reviewing vehicles, how could you know anything? Edmunds - what a bunch of dummies to exclude GM. Probably on Consumer Reports payroll. Rotters.

I'm going to stop going to the Edmunds website and reading their stuff - it's now proven to be biased against GM. Phew, sure glad you got me straightened out on Edmunds, Barrie. I had no idea.

My 1998 Lexus GS400 had 177,000 kms on it when I sold it..and it had NEVER been to the dealer for any unscheduled reason. EVER.  And it was still as tight as a drum.  And this car had seen 100+ passes at the dragstrip.  Ask Wing.  He came for a ride in it...
How fast is my Supra?  I sh*t on Cessnas from a roll....
