Have you considered tinting your Passat? Saw one the other day and it looked rich.

Like the sculpting in the doors about the chrome trim (not so evident in the photos). I'm dyin' for those LED tail lights for my car  :o

Yup, I think I'll get the windows tinted some other time, but I'm still kind of reluctant in spending money on car mods and dressing up..

VERY nice!

So nice it does not need any "dressing up" in this poster's humble opinion.

I always looked at tint as a feature more than "dressing up".  I mean, one side effect is that your car looks better in most people's opinions.  I always think of tint as a way to reduce the heat buildup inside as well UV protection for seats/interior/me etc.   I have a black car, and it really helps cool down.

Really nice.... I like it.

How long have you had it? How has reliability been with your car so far?

Actually that's very true especiall when I seriously consider tinting the windows every summer.. ;)

Thanks. I purchased the car in May, have been driving it for about 9700 km so far.
This is my first VW, I've read and heard about all the stories about VW's infamous reliability issues, so I was worried about it, too...but this car has been very reliable, there's been no single problem so far..Maybe I'm one of the lucky ones, or maybe new models are different than infamous old ones, which is a good sign for VW.
The only thing I dislike about it is the cost of engine oil change..pretty higher than Honda or domestic cars when I have the service at a VW dealership.

My MFD is saying 'SERVICE NOW!' upon start-up as I'm at 8,200kms (a wrench icon comes up if it's far past due or something's wrong). Will try to book a date for later this week or next. Would be pricey if I had to spend for synthetic every 6-8K, but after the initial the remainder 16K intervals thereafter I find the $100 okay for the convenience of not having to take it in at half the distance.

Have you spoken with your dealer about service intervals and have they recommended servicing yours every 8K, or are you going by the book?

Wow!  Nice work, Lucid!  The depth and richness of that finish comes across even in these small pics on the forum.  That's one thing I miss about my Audi -- the paint / clearcoat finish was not only superbly done, it seemed far more reliable than my Mazda.

Wow it's already been the time for an engine oil change for you too..
Hmm I didn't really ask the dealer about the intervals, but she actually wrote "16000km or March 2007" on "next service" in the manual.
I think she's actually following the book because the next service IS 16000km(though I didn't really read what should be checked then)..

Thank you very much. This is my first German car, and I've seen a lot of people saying the paint and finish of a German car is really top quality..
Well, true or not, it surely makes me feel good ;D

If I remember correctly it might go something like this.

8k
16k
32k
48k
64k

Unlike the Audi with the exact same engine but THEY pay for maintenance

8k
25k
40k
55k
70k

My friend also noticed that my Passat and his A3 share the same engine, but the engine service intervals are different. I wonder why?
